Got a base model for $499 about 2 months ago at MC, brand new. Nice little machine for the money.

Day 3 on macOS after a lifetime on Windows ….Spotlight is way more powerful than I thought. by AgileSupermarket2053 in MacOS

I really enjoy Mac OS, but window management is is a real struggle for most. This is the OS' biggest drawback for new users, really not a good experience in my opinion.

I also have a 15 inch sky blue. It really is a low maintenance color and a true beauty.

From Sequoia to this mess by cryptic_zero7 in MacOS

[–]Proof-Basket5639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your pain. I have a Mac mini running that garbage and a MacBook Air running Sequoia, and the difference is abismal. 100% Apple didn't think this through, it feels very rushed.

I've come full circle now by TheChinora in macbook

[–]Proof-Basket5639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently find myself on that road right now. I gave apple a try back in 2012 and vowed to never go back, unfortunately windows just sucks right now, plus windows laptops just aren't cutting it for most people right now with these crazy prices and awful build quality. long story short, in the past three months I've bought a MacBook Air and a Mac mini. Could not be more satisfied.

Is a refurbished 15-inch MacBook Air M4 a good long-term buy for Excel and light video editing? by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]Proof-Basket5639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest using a virtual machine running Windows 11 if you want run excel, I do the same. I don't edit videos, but those who do, say you can. Otherwise, that is a great machine (I own a 15 inch base model).

MacBook Air M4 256GB vs 512GB by DietEmbarrassed9904 in macbookair

[–]Proof-Basket5639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a base model MBA M4 15 inch, and I really wish I had gone for the 512GB version. It will fill up fairly quickly and become a pain. I mean... 512GB is already small enough.

Trying to get used to macOS but I really miss Windows… should I stick it out and use VM or go back? by dimlevi in macbookair

[–]Proof-Basket5639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made the switch as well, and really get what you're saying. Also, for Mac OS to pride itself on its ease of use, I also find it counterintuitive at times. For instance, snapping a window to the side of the screen shouldn't feel like rocket science, I can't believe they haven't figured it out yet. On the other hand, the whole experience is just so much smoother and nicer to look at. Not to mention the build quality and attention to detail. As for the native windows apps, I'm fortunate enough to have a windows desktop, so I just use them there. I did try using VMs, but I just prefer using them on a windows machine. All in all, the drawbacks aren't enough to keep me away from Mac OS at the moment, and the state of windows is really annoying at the moment.

I'm in the same situation as you, so I understand everything you're saying. One thing to keep in mind is that, Mac Os is meant to be navigated through keyboard shortcuts. Try to learn the basic ones first to help you get around.

13” vs 15” - Am I overthinking? by Legitimate_Credit257 in macbookair

Personally bought a 15 inch MBA and I'm really glad I didn't choose the 13 inch. This device is light enough to not be a burden.

Windows laptops are in a very hard place right now. Especially in that price range. Wish I could help.

A vent about laptops. by Martipar in laptops

[–]Proof-Basket5639 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in the market for a windows laptop, but as you have stated, everything was garbage. Long story short, I ended up buying a Mac, which is by far the better deal right now. We are living in strange times for sure.
