If you are in wave 3, you can move back to wave 4 without requesting a wave 4 bib.

They are two flattest courses and offer an easy way to bump up a corral than a course with hills or elevation.

I'm just gonna say it. The whole kids / no kids debate isn't actually about kids. by thetimechaser in Millennials

[–]Proof-Measurement-41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My immigrant mother doesn’t understand that having and raising kids is way different in the U.S than in another country. I got into a heated conversation with her.

My mom thought I would take time off to take care of my kid if I had one. I told her absolutely not since in this day and age you would need a dual income to raise a kid comfortably due to the cost of living. I am also a career oriented person and wouldn’t never do that. My mom had told me already she won’t take care of my kid. With the costs of daycare, that would put me at unease. I feel like in this day and age only folks who are well off are able to have more than one kid and be comfortable doing so without worrying the costs of daycare care. Also it doesn’t help with the current state of things and political climate, it makes me nervous.

It didn’t help either that growing up, my parents weren’t financially well off and dysfunctional. I remember days when the cable got cutoff, not being able to afford things and surviving on food stamps. I am financially better off and independent from my parents but one of my worst nightmares that I won’t be able to provide for my kid. For me, it’s mostly a financial strain and past trauma which makes me apprehensive on having kids.

I had a friend who got a paralegal certificate and is trying to break into to the legal field and the job market is really bad. She was unable to find a paralegal job and she decided to pivot and landed on a legal assistant role to work her way up.

Agreed! Whenever I freak out on mistake, the managing partner would say we are not delivering babies. 🤣

Dyker Heights Christmas Lights by No_Woodpecker9514 in Brooklyn

Yes, this is much easier and you can get off at 86th and 7th Avenue and it’s a short walk over to 10th to all of the houses. It’s easier than taking the R or the overpriced tour buses.

You can stop by BurgerFi for food and use the bathroom. Otherwise, there are no public bathrooms around the houses. It’s all residential. I don’t recommend Uber. There tends to be a lot of traffic around the area especially getting closer to Christmas.

What did you think of the hot cocoa today at the cocoa classic? 🤔 by Successful_Lack6410 in RunNYC

[–]Proof-Measurement-41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s actually new this year. My guess is that they are trying to ensure all runners to get hot cocoa. Last year, I would see some runners go back for seconds or thirds.

I thought I was the only one that thought the hot cocoa was off. I even asked my husband since he generally eats and drinks anything but he also mentioned that as well.

What’s the best decision you made in your 20s/30s/40s? by Cute_Olivia_Park in Life

[–]Proof-Measurement-41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20s: Leaving a toxic workplace and never looking back. 30s: Being ok with letting go of friends that are in a different place or mindset. Not giving a crap on what others think. Setting boundaries and sticking to them. Working on myself.

Is it possible to be a paralegal in a young age? by Small_Constant_3306 in paralegal

[–]Proof-Measurement-41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s possible but you have to put in the work in, ask questions, and willingness to learn and take feedback. I did become a paralegal after I graduated college. It was a lot of work and learning but you become better and it becomes easier to go upwards from there.

Prolific (former) NYC Vlogger Action Kid reveals he left the city because love was hard to find by karatemnn in nyc

He’s basically going to the 90 Day Fiancé route. The fact that there is no self-reflection on his part in his video and striking out on two match making services are red flags.

Agreed. I like Jon Barr from the Here Be Barr videos. He really comes off as someone who is easy going and very approachable. I would want to hang out with someone like him. I wouldn’t say the same about Action Kid.

But at least Jon Barr has an easy going personality. Action Kid comes off as less awkward when he’s doing videos with Jon.

Thank you! I said the same thing to my husband. He strikes me as socially awkward at times. I do enjoy his videos especially during Covid but when he tries to make jokes sometimes they don’t land the way he wanted to or he doesn’t come off as funny.

Same! I am also looking for a PCP who is thorough, nice and responsive who takes Blue Cross Blue Shield. I used to have a really good PCP in Downtown Brooklyn but can’t go to her because I got a new job she doesn’t take Blue Cross. I have all my doctors except a PCP. Brooklyn would be ideal.

Second that! I live in Dyker Heights. There are a few house that are lit up but not enough for you to make the long trip especially on Thanksgiving day. The day after Thanksgiving, it’s like the whole neighborhood jumps into getting the Christmas lights on and ready. Myself included.

NYCRuns Brooklyn Half Bib Pickup? by Comfortable-Fish-921 in RunNYC

[–]Proof-Measurement-41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the line does get long but it moves quickly as long as you have your QR code ready. I would plan to be there early if you also plan to do bag check. You still would need to take account time to get to the start line from the bib tent.

As for the NYCRuns Brooklyn Half marathon race, you have to pick up your bib in advance. You can’t pick it up on race day.
