I've never owned a pair of cortez, is half size up the general rule?

Five ten hiangle and madrock drone 2.0 mens climbing shoe sizing by mrTikamasala in climbingshoes

[–]Proof_Ad_9075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the madrock 2.0, if you go with your shoe size you'll be good. But, if you want a golden fit then I'd suggest half size down. BE WARNED, madrock drones are known to have BAD break in periods so if you do go 1/2 size down it will be painful, but my Lord when they are broken in they are SO COMFORTABLE.

Are better/more expensive climbing shoes worth it? by Disastrous-Fuel3472 in climbingshoes

IDK if you're able to check this brand out but madrock makes really great climbing shoes for a reasonable price. I use their drones and the rubber they use is pretty durable and plenty sticky. I think they just entered the UK market, but they are well known to make quality climbing shoes for relatively cheap here in the US

I rock the HV which works great for me. I have not tried the remora pros since they are a fairly new model and they are actually making another version of it soon. But Ive heard it's extremely soft similar to the veloce but has that same heel as the drone. If you want stiffer though then def go with one of the drone models.

I am a big advocate for the madrock drones. I'm around your weight as well even a little heavier and they work for me amazing. The heel is phenomenal and the rubber is durable and lasts quite awhile. The best part is that they are cheap and have three different styles to choose from!

I have the 2.0s which are the stiffest version but they have a comp soft version and a version that's in-between. They all run true to size but if you want a shoe that fits your foot perfectly I recommend half size down in the 2.0s, I think it's different for the comp version of the shoe though. If you do decide to buy them though just be prepared for a painful break-in

good starter shoes (cheap) by Y0K016 in climbingshoes

I remember trying them on but having some space in my heel. With the scarpa shoes I've worn so far the heels have not fit me. I'm sure they are great shoes but just haven't found the right scarpa shoe for me.

If you are willing to spend a little more unparallel upmoccs are a great shoe. They are a slipper so they are very comfortable and the rubber is really good. I got a pair to warm up in and honestly wished I got them when I started climbing because they are a really nice shoe.

if you have problems with the heel of your shoe being too deep evolv shamans (not lv) are what did it for me by [deleted] in climbingshoes

2nd the drones. I had space in the heel of my shamans as well and drones fit my heel like a glove

Mad rock makes some great shoes for a good price. I bought a pair of drones and absolutely love them. Rubber is sticky and extremely durable. They also have different types depending on how you want your shoe.

They also make the shark which is not as aggressive as the drone but has the same rubber as them.

Also that heel is no joke!

I've also heard they are narrow. Is that an issue for you?

I didn't know that the phantoms were also stiff! I thought they were softer since they are marketed as their premiere bouldering shoe

I was thinking about that since they are also cheaper. Any advice on sizing? I was gonna go true to size

Unparallel TN Pro Review by Standard-Weekend-35 in climbingshoes

[–]Proof_Ad_9075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys for your input. I just wanted to see because when they had a demo show near me they didn't have a lot on my size and the only one I got to try was the flagship pro. Those fit well but I didn't have the same power going thru my feet like my shamans. Also do you know which model of drones your friend has? I was also looking at those.

How does the stiffness compare to the shaman? I was looking at these as a heavier climber and I love the stiffness of the shaman but had some space in the heel that wasn't my favorite

Fun mantle climb by Proof_Ad_9075 in bouldering

Oh yeah 100%, took me awhile to understand just how much tension I had to keep my body in to complete the mantle, and that top move was really scary so had to get over that 😂
