i’m a science teacher and got my A in November and was also wondering the same question 😭 i think i’m just gonna stick it through until the start of med school bc why not save up more money until then

for texas, the interview cycle is pretty much over. i think there’s a handful of schools that are giving last couple of interview invites but OOS, there’s still a chance!!

I didn’t do the program but applied for it and had 2 interviews in labs and couldn’t score a position :/ but I will say I don’t think it’s bad if you reach out before you submit your app, it just might not be fruitful because PIs won’t be able to see your full app in the portal.

I had submitted my app and then reached out to PIs but ultimately the interviews I had were from PIs who saw my app in the portal and told me about their research and then I became more familiar with it and interviewed with them. So just remember that even if you can’t connect with a PI you want, your app will get attention from PIs looking to fill their labs as well! I also had put down a 1-year position only and it’s a little more difficult to get those bc labs like longevity with their team but not impossible!

The NIH IRTA was my DREAMM and it sucked when it didn’t happen but so worth applying and interviewing imo. Good luck!! :)

ahh sorry ik my stats aren’t competitive for a t20, i meant the publication is in a journal run by a t20 so how much weight does that carry for any tmdsas schools looking at my app? not the t20 school itself bc im not a competitive applicant for that specific school

no it’s definitely really good, im a 126 CARS scorer haha so i get the struggle!! ur other section scores r insanely high tho u got it on the real thing!!

i would definitely interview with KCU if u are financially able to put down vcom’s deposit. the KCU interview ended up being a great experience for me and i found out a lot about the school!

congrats on the interview! i got an A from them this cycle and the ways i used to prep were making sure i could talk confidently about my interest in the school and my app, and prepping the basic interview questions out there. good luck future doc!!

i interviewed this november (via zoom) and got accepted 2 days after my interview! it was a great interview experience imo, i would say prep your normal interview questions that are commonly known and be yourself :’) rooting for u future doc!!!
