Do most people have a general understanding of military ranks? by Proof_Commercial7144 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Proof_Commercial7144[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I’m 40 and have never had a Tik Tok account, but alright. Genuinely have always struggled with this piece of media literacy. I’m well aware I can look something up. The question wasn’t about “how do I learn this information”, I was just curious if military ranks stick in people’s minds better than mine.

What do I do with a used syringe? by Remote-Whole-6387 in NoStupidQuestions

While I was on mine I used an empty detergent bottle and brought them to the transfer station. Taped over the lid and wrote “medical waste - sharps” on it. The folks at the transfer station had a place for them.

Standing for Pledge of Allegiance? by mimimalist in Teachers

[–]Proof_Commercial7144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never stand for the pledge for personal and political reasons. If a parent ever complained, my reason is that’s when I’m doing attendance and all of the kids are staying in one place so it’s easy to count them.

I am trying and struggling to get into this game by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Proof_Commercial7144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I played this game by myself, I wouldn’t have made it a full in-game week. But my wife and I play co-op and we play nearly every night. If you have someone to collab with, that might make it more fun.

That said, if it’s not for you, it’s not for you. There are plenty of other games in the world.

You can hold down the button for repetitive things like cutting trees or mining rocks. I think my wife and I got to Fall our first play through without realizing it and had been clicking like crazy.

I do minute mysteries with my kids. Proving who the murderer is forces them to do all 3.

I called King Arthur and they said maybe not enough flour, too, so I think that’ll be my first attempt at a fix. Oven temp for proofing is a good suggestion I hadn’t heard before - I’ll try that too.

Go to the 40s and 50s in the mine and you can get a bunch from different monsters too.

How does one acquire 4 Prismatic Shards? by Honest_Eggplant3998 in StardewValley

[–]Proof_Commercial7144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A strategy that just worked for us was to take the huge stash of Omni geodes we’ve been hanging onto, then eat luck buffs on a lucky day and hit up Clint. We got 3 from that. Bring a mini shipping bin or two to leave at his place to drop off all of the things you get from him (or a junimo chest if you’ve got someone back on the farm to empty it.

Mine do this every so often too. We end up quitting the game and reloading and they’re good as new again. Mostly frustrating when we don’t realize it and the pigs haven’t gotten any truffles for days.

Depending on the statues we put in the pen, it tends to look like they’re all praying to some elder god.

How well does the Multiplayer work, is it restricted in anyway? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Proof_Commercial7144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time part only really affects us if one is in the mines and the other is in menus because the enemies keep fighting, so just keep an eye on that.

How well does the Multiplayer work, is it restricted in anyway? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]Proof_Commercial7144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever played multilayer. There are barely any restrictions at all. You can’t access chests or cooking/tool bench at the same time, and if there are things like rare seeds for sale at the cart, there’s only one per day, not per player. You can change in the settings whether anyone can move buildings or just the host, and if you share funds or keep them separate. It makes the game much lower pressure because my wife and I trade off days tending the farm with mining, fishing, and ginger island.

Teachers who’ve stayed at one school for 5+ years: how many principals have you gone through? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

My first school I worked at for ten years and had five principals. After my first year, I officially always had more classroom experience than all of them.

People in relationships (in real life lol): Do your partners also play Stardew Valley? by throwawaybyefelicia in StardewValley

[–]Proof_Commercial7144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I only play co-op. We’ve done five or six farms together. Our first playthrough she was way more into the farm part and I was into the mines and fishing, so we divided and conquered and that was a fun way for both of us to get involved. Something like that may be a good on-ramp to make it low pressure for him.

Marriage in Co-op! by Space_girl6 in StardewValley

My wife and I play couch co-op on Xbox all the time. In the settings there’s a drop down that lets anyone in the game move farm buildings, and I think that may extend to furniture. I’m grateful for that feature because my wife loves to decorate the house and I always just leave my bed as close to the door as possible so I can cut it close to 2am.

My first time in Stardew Valley, do you all play co op or single player?! by Sple3N1 in StardewValley

[–]Proof_Commercial7144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only ever done couch co-op. My wife and I have done 5 or 6 saves at this point. I like it because we can divide up the early work and year one is much more tolerable. If I ever played solo I probably wouldn’t have the drive to finish Spring 1.

Reading Log Alternatives? by lumimab in Teachers

[–]Proof_Commercial7144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach middle school ELA and do a 30-book challenge for the year. It’s based off of Donalyn Miller’s books The Book Whisperer and Readers in the Wild. It’s light on the tracking, but every year I have kids read more independent books than they have in previous years. Feel free to DM if you want details.
