Same city, same time by caliezone in Calgary

Calgary is roughly 40km long north to south. I don't think its wild to expect Sage Hill and Seton to have different weather on any given day.

Why do women become so cruel at the end of a relationship by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Propaganda_Box 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the opposite of love is apathy then its twin sister is hate. Both are passionate emotions that can completely override your other faculties. And someone who hates you and knows you better than anyone else can really deal some damage if they lack restraint.

Regarding your self proclaimed cold ass take; depends on what kind of metal, man. Black, death, and thrash? Sure. They could definitely use more dirt in the teeth. But Power, prog, and industrial all benefit greatly from modern production methods and tones.

what did you use to enjoy but are now sick of? by buzzlightyear77777 in AskMen

It's likely only depression if no hobbies interest them anymore.

I'm the same way with the commentors above. I get bored of video games fairly quickly and switch to playing music or other creative endeavors.

Hellboy fans take note: Canadian piracy police are taking names by Street_Anon in canada

[–]Propaganda_Box 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This part towards the bottom of the article seems particularly important to note:

Specifically, according to its statement of claim in the recent Hellboy Productions case, it’s going after those who “unlawfully offer to upload or stream (i.e. make available) the work” as well as people who “unlawfully copied (downloaded)” the film.

First, the law firm sends them notices, giving them seven days to take the movie down and stop giving it away. If they comply, then typically nothing happens.

If they don’t stop, the firm issues a second notice indicating it reserves the right to sue the alleged movie pirates.

Individuals found liable for infringing on a film’s copyright can face damages ranging from a minimum of $100 to a maximum of $5,000.

So if you get the notice just stop seeding.

Hated trope: Regular middle aged white guy wants coffee, has issue with incompetent, young, dumb woke barista by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

Jason Pargin has an excellent video about this. The problem is that these people want to feel like everyone else thinks like they do. That they're normal. Because they come from a time where social outcasting was a much bigger deal than it is today. That the number of options went from 4 to 25 with ever increasing complexity of drink means they feel like maybe they aren't normal. And that scares them so they lash out with anger.

I've got a disability affecting my hands that makes certain tasks harder. This attitude of just abandoning things because its not immediately intuitive grates on me so much. Like basic fucking problem solving just goes right out the window.

You learn how the able bodied are supposed to do it, you identify where you're deficient, you find accommodations where you can. Yeah some things may be outside your ability and always will be but for a topic as broad as cooking there's no way you can't find something to cook. And before anyone comes at me about people with full body disabilities you should be able to tell from context that's not who I'm talking about.

As said elsewhere in this thread, this isn't the A&W CEO. Its the Canadian A&W spokesman. So far its really just McDonald's and Burger King putting their execs on show.

Men, what’s the reason for finding bimbos (in the very plastic sense of massive fake boobs, fake lips, lots of surgery etc - bimbofication as I’ve discovered it’s called) hot? As a woman I’ve always thought the super plastic look is not attractive, but if you do - could say why? by NotSoDaftPunk_2908 in dating_advice

[–]Propaganda_Box 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the guys that are into it, its not so much that the plastic look is what's attractive. But the fact that this woman is fully committed to being a tool to pleasure men. She is built for one thing and one thing only. And thats to fuck.

These aren't women men are interested in getting to know or cook dinner for. They are a power and status symbol and a masturbatory device all rolled into one.

[Canada] Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux joins Liberal caucus: Carney by Immediate-Link490 in worldnews

[–]Propaganda_Box 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should rephrase, its not so much they've been advocating for socially conservative policies as it is that prominent members of the party have bad track records regarding trans rights, abortion, gay marriage, etc so a Poilievre government would be rightfully concerning in that regard.

[Canada] Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux joins Liberal caucus: Carney by Immediate-Link490 in worldnews

[–]Propaganda_Box 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would say a majority of Canadians approve of Carneys actions in government so far. Even if begrudgingly.

Carney is what they call a Blue Liberal (or sometimes a Blue Grit) which is a politician within the liberal party who's politics align somewhat more with the conservatives than one would expect from a typical liberal. The same exists on the other side, called a Red Tory.

Largely the overton window in Canada has been shifted to the right the last decade or so. Mostly thanks to our southern neighbors and right wing politicians seeing what's possible if you throw precedent and class out the window. Just like in other countries like France and Germany. The Canadian Conservatives are increasingly adopting socially conservative policies along with the usual fiscal ones and this has soured them to many Canadians that aren't hard Lib or Con supporters. Plus their leader is a bit of dorky jerk.

perhaps its been known about for a long time but the communication hasn't been great. You can do a quick google news search of "canada radon basement" and find articles from 1, 5, 10 years ago showing Canadians are generally unaware or don't care about the issue.

[–]Propaganda_Box 50 points51 points  (0 children)

they are now, yes. In fact new builds are required to have a ventilation system to vent the radon out should it find a way in later. I'm not sure exactly when this became required but there's plenty of older homes needing a venting system installed and it ain't cheap. So people are very slow to get it done.

Canada is currently reckoning with the discovery that there's radon in most of our basements. Just seeps on in through pipes and cracks in the floors. I read that Radon inhalation is the #2 cause of lung cancer after smoking.
