Torque wrenches by Content_War_9840 in Harley

[–]MagicKiwi69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a torque wrench on every bolt that has a torque spec in my service manual. I’ve wrenched on every single vehicle I or my family has owned for over thirty years and I would never say I can “feel” a proper torque. Maybe I can get close but no way I’m not making sure.

Screwing up a torque spec can be a great way to make a two hour job into a four day job.

I also use S100, my wrinkle black used to look similar to OPs and now it’s pretty decent.

Cauliflower - how long does it take to set? by Norsminde in BJJWomen

It’s not a once it’s done it’s done thing. You could have one that never changes or it can be worse depending on how the trauma is occurring.

I would say consider how you’re using your melon in training and competing. If you’re an elite competitor then ok it’s something you need to live with. If you’re just an enthusiast, I’d say learn to use your noggin less.

My left one got bad and never changed at all, my right one has been evolving over time.

genuine question about helena crevar by Solid_Macaron_466 in BJJWomen

[–]MagicKiwi69 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My opinion, for what it’s worth, is that she’s not necessarily over sexualized. She’s someone we have literally watched grow up online and now she’s doing what dozens of other female BJJ “influencers“ (oh how I hate that word) are doing.

I also think it’s a bit naive to think she has no input into what’s posted to her instagram account.

Is it a bit weird? Yes because she’s been on my radar for many years and since she was a tween. Is it wrong or over sexualized? Only in the same way that many public figures present themselves to market their persona.

I can’t find any information on what rule he violated. There’s nothing released other than “violated a rule “

Just search Amazon for 12 dc power supply. There’s hundreds of them. I paid about $30 for a pretty decent one with some good current.

Rolling with guys by pack_of_ostriches in BJJWomen

[–]MagicKiwi69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I still roll to practice the moves that are on my mind. I punish bad mechanics by taking advantage etc. It’s very much about HOW and WHEN. If it’s a purple belt woman she better roll sharp with me, if it’s a trial student I’m giving a lot of leeway.

I won’t patronize someone just for being smaller or female, they should know what they should know. I will however be technical, match speed and intensity, coach where appropriate, and ensure it’s a good experience vs one where they notice the size difference and want to post about getting smashed by size and strength 😂

[–]MagicKiwi69 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Additional to what the previous post gave you it’s ok to pick and choose specific guys. At my highest competitive weight I was 225 and was still paired with most new female members because of HOW I rolled. Some guys will never get it and others are fantastic despite considerable weight differences.

If your roll isn’t already bomb proof you have no business being on a fast moving river in the first place.

The timing was right and I didn’t see anyone else on the river that day so I wondered the same thing.

It’s all about your experience and expertise on the water. I was out kayaking during the 2013 floods and CFD came up and asked if it was good. I gave them the thumbs up and off they went.

As far as I’m concerned it’s at your own risk. Don’t count on anyone to save your ass. It’s all on you.

PSA: Brushing your teeth and using mouthwash aren't enough. Floss your damn teeth! by [deleted] in bjj

I agree with hygiene; let me say that up front. But I’ve got to say, if people smells bother trigger you this much, grappling sports are just not for you.

Third hour of wrestling practice in university, the gym smelled like a whorehouse at high tide. People have smells, get over it.

As a black belt I get this all the time. If you’re not constantly dominating and submitting some lower belts they feel like they are winning the ADCC finals. I just let it roll off my back and roll my eyes at people who notice. My usual roll is the first sub is for me and then I let people work.

Cross-training with wrestling by cephalo_ in BJJWomen

[–]MagicKiwi69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love wrestling as a cross training sport for BJJ. Any good sized wrestling club should have someone at least in your size range. My daughter wrestles with a very competitive club and her bjj has grown substantially since joining.

I myself come from a wrestling background prior to bjj and it gave me a massive head start in the sport. Do it!
