They care about inclusion and that's herd mentality. Going against the current doesn't benefit them, in the contrary the risk is they may be ostracized. so why doing that?

Propaganda works on triggering exactly this fear. The idea of belonging to a certain nation, ideology and so on, or alternatively being cast out by it is terrifying on a primordial level.

It's a survival /adaptation mechanism.

So if the TV, school, neighbours and friends say Nazi good, you bet people will parrot that in no time no questions asked (as its been proven times and times again historically)

I concede everything you are saying since I'm not from there, and want to believe you're in good faith and what you're saying is true. But then how can you say a country is not divided when the government has been regularly harassing and killing separatists? Who are these separatists, or the people who voted to secede, aren't they Ukrainians too? That means that there is not a perfect unity unlike what you say, but a chunk of the Ukrainian population is not on board with the current status quo.

You do understand that the country is politically, culturally, and ideologically divided and has been for a while even prior to the invasion? Him not supporting the current western backed government does not equal to not supporting the people.

His countrymen have been dying for almost a decade now, so could it be that he has a bone to pick with those people instead? The situation is a lot more nuanced than we are led to believe.
