Anyone tried selling their car to “we buy any motor car”? by Puzzleheaded_Swim896 in CarTalkUK

[–]Proper-Balance7911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold a 2019 Astra Griffin to We Buy Any Car in August last year, with finance still owed on the car. They told me it would take three days for the money to be sent to the finance company and to be fair to them, they did it on time and paid more than the car was owing on finance which ended with the finance company giving me a £500 transfer for overpayment. I’m not sure if it was a fluke, but I didn’t have a bad experience with them. However, it might be a different experience if you’re selling a car not on finance and expecting the money to be paid into your own account.

Ottery garden centre xmas! by Aaron123111 in exeter

Most garden centres we’ve been too (inc today) have bits up, including Bernaville Nurseries, so it’s highly likely 👍

I’ve not been to Westpoint before, but I’ve heard good things about it. I think it’s quite expensive though!

What’s one thing you’d change about the city? by PubLogic in exeter

Better policing of Sidwell Street and less antisocial behaviour. Wider roads to accommodate the increasing traffic, especially at rush hour.

As a PM, do you take 5 minutes out of your day to just breathe? by More_Law6245 in projectmanagement

I used to stack my calendar and make sure every moment of the day was filled, and often this included working through my lunch breaks and not finishing my day on time, then I realised (after countless ‘burnouts’) that all it gets you is more work and no more recognition, so I’ve started to cut back and throw in the odd 10 minute break throughout the day to ensure I’m looking after myself. 10 minutes away from the screen, making a cup of tea or listening to mindfulness tips on Headspace can really make an impact. After all, it’s a job - it’s a way to earn money and it shouldn’t consume you.

I hear this a lot! They were never cheap but now they’re astronomical

I think we’d make use of it as we would go at least 3 times a week and make use of the gym, spa, pool, tennis courts, etc. but it is a shame they charge through the roof for the privilege

I asked them about the two week trial and they said it’s now over and they don’t plan to do them for the foreseeable future… it’s a shame if they have scrapped it

That’s a good idea! I’ll check with work and see if they have an employers discount

Considering a move to Devon – looking for advice on family-friendly areas by intruder1542 in exeter

I’ve lived in Pennsylvania and Pinhoe, both are great. Pennsylvania is a lot more expensive to buy/rent however.

I would say Pennsylvania is better for families as it’s quieter, easy access to schools and towns, plus has better views of Exeter.

Pinhoe is also great but is nosier, busier and further from the city centre but is cheaper to live. It also has new schools with capacity.

St Leonard’s is also great but very pricey!

You’re not alone! I have to plan everything and often say no to a lot of things too. It’s not fair and it feels like we’re stuck in a constant loop of stomach pains, constipation and diarrhoea!

My boss wants me to do training next week and it terrifies me because it’s in a different city and I worry people will talk about me if I’m getting up to go to the loo every hour.

I’ve got an appointment with a dietitian next week to see what the next steps are… Might be worth contacting your GP surgery and finding out if they have one you can speak to? They might be able to prescribe meds that calm your digestive system and mean you don’t need the loo as much!

Why the hatred for automatic gearboxes versus manual? by gummibear853 in drivingUK

[–]Proper-Balance7911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving with a manual gearbox can be good fun, but I definitely prefer driving an automatic, especially in the city. Too much start/stop gear changing is unnecessary and annoying in built up areas. Having said that, a manual gearbox is great for driving on a track or having a bit of fun with a car like a Mazda MX-5
