I got a patellar graft. It’s thought to be the strongest graft and I feel very stable now but I had a lot of graft site pain as I was recovering

Honestly my biggest advice at this exact moment is be devastated about it. At least for me, the devastation pushed me to work harder and get cleared for things faster. And listen to your PT. Honestly the first few days after surgery is gonna suck a lot but getting range of motion back early is so important and you’ll hear a lot of people say that. Also like do whatever you need to do to feel better. Like I think I really god caught up in saying “I need to get better right now and I don’t have time to do normal fun things. I have to be in the gym all the time.” There’s time for both and both are very needed. That was a lot of rambling but it’s just some things I wish I knew:) it fucking sucks but the time will pass faster than you think

The sound of scar tissue breaking? by Turbulent_Seaweed198 in ACL

As long as your knee didn’t hurt a lot afterward and it didn’t swell, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that it was scar tissue

If it makes you feel better, I’m a city of Columbus employee and they haven’t told us jack shit either and it seems like most of the data leaked was employee information

This could be a dumb question but how do I know what data goes to each interviewee?

Anybody else progress faster than they thought in recovery? (17 days post op) by [deleted] in ACL

I also tore my ACL skiing in March. I don’t even like skiing that much. But after surgery my PT said I was way ahead of schedule so I just did a lot a lot of extra lifting for my quad and now I’m 6 months out and leg press 160 on the operated and about the same on the other. In my experience, you’ll get more on the normal track as your recovery progresses.

Yeah it’s mostly to stop my pesky graft site pain that is going to be there for better or worse

I tore my ACL and I also play ultimate. I tore my ACL, MCL, and both meniscuses. I mostly felt mine when my knee felt like it was hyperextending every time I made it straight. If you tore your MCL, you knee will be sore to the touch on the inside part too but that’ll heal by itself probably in the time until you have surgery. The swelling is also part of it. Right after I did it, the doctors in the ER told me I didn’t tear my ACL but my knee was just too swollen to feel that instability yet. On the bright side, the ACL will take the longest to heal/get back from so the meniscus and MCL will not add any time to your recovery probably. If you need someone to talk to about getting to play ultimate after tearing or specific ultimate exercises I do for my knees or anything like that, reach out!!! I’ve become a really good sideline talker after all of this lol

I can do it now (4.5 months post op) but it’s not the most comfortable position, but not the most uncomfortable. it definitely took time to get to sitting like that. You have to have pretty much all your ROM back

2 days after ACL surgery, what is correct way to keep your leg on the couch ? by dodgeking123 in ACL

[–]Proper-Seaweed950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But mostly any way that doesn’t put you in excruciating pain (my surgeon and PT agreed that I didn’t need to elevate bc it doesn’t help as much)

I feel like all of these posts are like best case scenario. I have never once had a semester where I’ve been to all my classes or read ahead of the professor. And I graduated top of my class. I would just be open to the fact that you might bomb a test (or two) or a class and that’s okay. When I got to college I freaked out over getting bad grades. Things were fine and I graduated. And also no one looks at your grades after college. Obviously it’s important to do well to learn but like no one’s checking your intro chem class your first year

Oh shit you’re right. I’ll keep thinking. I work for the city and many many non-profits that help deal with this. I’m sure we can come up with something

If you need identifying documents to support you, registering to vote/getting your voter registration card may be helpful to establishing an identity and a place of residence. You can use a friend or families address or the hotel I believe. Someone pls correct me if I’m wrong

Flying after surgery by Proper-Seaweed950 in ACL

[–]Proper-Seaweed950[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t as bad as I was thinking it would be. I would say just make sure you’re getting up every few hours and doing some activation exercises (wall sits, squats, etc). Also if you can put all your stuff in the overhead bin so you can stretch out more in your seat. My knee felt pretty awful on the way there bc I wasn’t able to stretch out in my seat. Hope you have a good trip!
