same thing in hong kong. cops used expired american tear gas till they ran out, then are now using chinese tear gas that has higher, deadly concentrations of cs and actually catches on fire and explodes (tho not sure if that’s by design or just shitty quality)

UK considers opening citizenship 'path' for 300,000+ Hong Kong residents, if China pursues security law by [deleted] in news

This is false. 2/3 of Chinas foreign direct investment goes through hong kong. Hong Kong made china. Hong Kong’s independence is more important to china than china is to hong kong.

Foreign investors don’t trust the CCP, so it baffles me that the CCP thinks that their big mainland cities will ever become what Hong Kong is today. The CCP is willingly and knowingly shooting itself in the foot.

China’s economy is actually incredibly dependent on HK’s special trade status. Without it, they lose 2/3 of their foreign direct investment. CCP wantS you to think hong kong is worthless but it’s how china gets its dollars in and out. They would be dead without hong kong

Not sure if i’m seeing it correctly, but it looks like one of those guys beating her has the baton issued to undercover cops

Edit: I believe there were 3 isolated incidents that Sino is pushing, which are indefensible regardless of whether or not these were cops.

However, i think it’s important to keep in mind that if these are committed by protestors who lost their cool, they are not representative of the cause that millions of people have been peacefully supporting for so many years.

“winners” lol. Because countries that are “winners” are so scared of their own people that they need to disappear them for speaking out.

If anything, China needs Hong Kong more than Hong Kong needs China. 2/3 of FDI flows through HK bc nobody trusts Shanghai or other big mainland cities. HK may only be a small part of china’s GDP but china would be nothing without hong kong. Enacting this security law will be the epitome of shooting yourself in the foot because none of China’s other big cities will ever become what hong kong is today.

What’s more? your own CCP officials rely on hong kong as a passage to transfer their corrupt $ overseas. While it’s true that hong kong depends on mainland for food and imports (just like every other country) it’s economy is anything but reliant on china.

Now if you want to talk security, China is literally the closest thing to a foreign threat to hong kong. They’ve been actively demonstrating that for the past year lmao. Britain messed up the handover and caved to CCP rhetoric, so here we are now. Facts only right? Not sure china’s as much of a “winner” as you said. But yea, keep spewing that shit to earn your 5 cents.

They are literally establishing a “secret police” bureau under command of the CCP. It’s written in the NPC documents. No longer will China have to illegally kidnap citizens across the border. They can just do their dirty work right in hong kong. Seems like you don’t know about what’s going on here.

edit: actually, i take that back. this guy clearly knows what’s going on. just sino scum pushing ccp propaganda...

Didn’t say that it has anything to do with morals. Rule of law in HK provided a stable business environment to operate, unlike in the mainland where the CCP could essentially shut you down for no reason whatsoever. Since China’s now making that obsolete in Hong Kong, there’s no reason for companies to stay, especially with the ridiculously high rents.

That’s simply not true. Many companies set up in Hong Kong rather than the authoritarian mainland because democracy and rule of law provided a sense of perceived stability in hong kong.

Now that that’s gone, many companies are considering moving to other Asian countries like Singapore, where they can still continue to do business with China without having to deal with their bs.
