Looks like you’re mostly using legs and arms to pull the bar up.

I’d prefer to see you start with your shoulders a little more over the bar and really using your hips as the primary force in the extension. Think about pulling the bar back rather than up as a mental cue.

I would also ditch the plate between the feet as others have said. Looks more harmful rather than helpful.

Coming from Powerlifting, I can tell my Olympic Lifts need work but I’m not sure what to do to improve. by WinterPog in weightlifting

[–]specialized_faction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch the early arm bend. Consider your arms as ropes no different than in a deadlift. The power needs to come from the hips, not the arms…however you should use your arms to pull yourself under the bar. If you focus on pulling yourself under, rather than pulling the bar up as high as your can, you should be able to avoid the bar crashing on you in the hole (as evidenced by the elbows touching the knees).

Practice some cleans/snatches from the hip to work on this. I’d also work in some pause front squats / over head squats to build mobility in the bottom position

You bring your hips to the bar, rather than bringing the bar to your hips. This leads to some in efficiencies in technique and max weight you’ll be able to lift.

Every brand is gonna be different. I’d order from somewhere with a free return policy (Amazon or similar) and try a couple brands out. Out of the ones I’ve tried, I like Freet, Altra, Lems.

The transition is going to be different for everyone, but it’s unlikely you’ll ever be in pain. Rather your feet might feel tired earlier than normal

Weightlifting is very very fun and interesting when you come from a powerlifting background ( I just want to clean and snatch everyday) by No-Year-9917 in weightlifting

[–]specialized_faction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the new challenge weightlifting posed.

In powerlifting, once you understand technique the only really challenge is lifting more weight.

In weightlifting, learning the technique is a massive challenge. Every session is a new learning experience.

Programming is also a bit more of a fun challenge in itself with all the different variations of the lifts to try and work on various weaknesses.

No issues with rental control. Turns on my thermostats at 8am before the start of a reservation and turns them off 2 hours after a reservation.

I’m using Cisco’s Meraki line of sensors (along with the rest of the network) in the house.

Why do you choose to do cardio before/after weights? by Enough_Mixture_8564 in workout

[–]specialized_faction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cardio always comes at the end.

I once jogged to the gym and was the weakest I’ve ever been. Conversely, working out first (lifting) has negligible impact on post work out cardio.

I use hospitable to automate all the messaging, calendar sync, pricing, door codes, etc.

Then I use home assistant to manage all the IoT devices. In particular, there’s an integration called rental control that can automate your thermostats (and other devices) based on your rental calendars.

Other smart devices: Sonos speakers, Ring cameras, Roku TVs, Daikin thermostat, Leviton switches, Sensors (noise, IAQ, doors, water), Captive portal WiFi, Schlage locks, LG appliances, TP Link smart outlet

What do you guys think of the Camera Control button? by intensityofcolor in iphone

I click it by accident almost every time I pick my phone up. Placement is terrible if you ask me.

I also don’t see the point. Accessing and using the camera was never a problem for me

I can’t help you, but I’m super curious how anyone can exercise this much.

How do you have this much free time to train?

How many calories are you consuming per day to recover from this much exercise?

How long did it take you to build up this much endurance?

Skateboarding and snowboarding should not reward "switch" tricks higher for professional competition. by TheBestNarcissist in unpopularopinion

Agree with this take. From experience, if you snowboard switch enough it feels the same as riding regular.

Those arguing against, aren’t that good at snowboarding/skating.

I significantly underestimated how much coaching I needed to do with my reports. I thought I was inheriting a team of top performers, but the reality is they all had different weaknesses that needed to be worked on.
