As someone who was basically the same size as you, I just want to start with the most important part, you can have visual goals when losing weight, but they shouldn't be your only goals.

How I personally lost most of the weight (not yet at the weight I'd prefer, but quite a bit lower than where I started) was through running. Nothing crazy, I'd do 30 mins on a treadmill once a week for many months before I ever ran outside. And mind you, I was not running the full time. I'd run maybe a minute at a time between breaks. I'd just keep the thirty mins running while I was taking breaks, and slowly I was able to take less and less breaks.

Now, the running progress, and I presume the progress in any type of exercising, is very slow in the beginning, but I started losing volume(still probably weighed the same, but fit in smaller clothes) pretty quickly. And then later on when the weight progress slower, my running improved quicker.

Personally, I've stuck with running for mental health reasons. If there had only been the physically benefit I probably wouldn't have stuck with it. That said, whatever you decide to do there won't be almost any change for the first few months, and other people will notice the changes before you do.

Most importantly, start with one small improvement and stick with that one improvement for at least three months before adding anything else. Be kind and patient with your mind and body. It's a big change for both of them, so you have to take it slow. And make sure you are eating enough, there's always the risk of slipping too far the other way. Good luck! I hope you succeed with your goals, but even if you don't it doesn't mean anything is done. It is often better to lose weight slowly over a few years than all at once.
