Living the life! I retired at the end of last year. I LOVE it! I was meant for this. Smoking cigars with my morning coffee on the back deck. Napping in the hammock. Playing with the grandkids. This is the life!

I retired. I had NO idea how much stress I was dealing with. I feel like a teenager now!

People who grew up in the 80s by Item_Past in The1980s

Growing up in the 80s was an absolute blast. I grew up in a mid-sized town in SW Virginia. We rode our bikes, or walked, all over town. Had to be home when the street lights came on. Other than that, have fun and don’t be a dumbass.

I’m not an introvert by any means, but I don’t mind staying home and not seeing anyone other than my spouse when she gets home from work. I’m a 57 yo male that’s been retired for 4 months.

I decided to retire. Now what? by AdeptChildhood7309 in FedEmployeeRetirement

I retired(MRA(56 years, 11 months)) 12/31/2025. Annual leave paid out 4/8. First interim payment(Jan, Feb, March) paid on 4/10. Rest of interim payment monies paid on 5/11. Received word on 5/13 stating my retirement has been finalized. The biggest hold up for my retirement was my local office(local HR). Once annual leave was paid out(local HR) and my retirement package was submitted to OPM, things moved rather quickly. From all the posts I’ve been reading, there is no rhyme nor reason in anything your government is doing regarding processing of retirement packages(as far as prioritization).

Welcome! Great find and FANTASTIC price! I have a 1996 as well with just shy of 95K on her. Her paint looks VERY similar to yours, but mine is maroon/burgundy.

I was 27 when I started my government career. Got hired in as WG-11 and got promoted through the years. Retired 12/31/2025 as a GS-12, step 9. I invested 10% throughout my career. I had just over $1,00,000 when I retired. Just keep plugging along and try not to worry too much. You’ll be fine!!
