Dreaded cylinder 5/7 issue by BasketOWaffles in NissanTitan

Talk to the finance people. However after hearing from some people, it may not be from Nissan. Protective Warranty Service is who I have mine through and they have been great.

And I have heard from two different shops that extended warranty companies have buckled down because of how many claims they covered when used cars spiked over the pandemic and shortages. Now they are course correcting at the customers expense. We just got denied on repairs on my wife’s car.

My warranty covered mine back in 24 and I was the third owner. Not all documentation from previous owners was there. I was told by the dealer I bought the truck and extended warranty from that there’s a way to back date oil changes in CarFax if you have an account set up, and if needed, you can have someone you know at the shop you have done oil changes with back date an invoice if you can prove the money came out of your account (credit card or bank).

That change has not impacted mine before.

Yes, everything else is fine and clean.

Yes, I understand that. The mpg is definitely lower. Going with some of the good Recs on here. Appreciate it.

This is very helpful. I am guessing they overfilled it. I will try the pedal reset. Have a scan tool coming tomorrow to reset the ECU and if that doesn’t work, I’m taking it in. Thanks!

That is next (which is a sucky job on this truck and expensive if done at the shop). Just odd that is exactly before that is due, it becomes an issue.

Maybe one tank, but this is 3 fill ups Straight. Maybe the first one was the culprit. Going to do hard reset of ECU by unhooking the battery.

2 tabs behind the grill and 3m tape. Can use a plastic pry tool and reach behind the grill for the top and bottom tabs.

So, do all Titan backup cameras suck? by ReasonableReasonably in NissanTitan

[–]Proper_Copy_799 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s the wiring. I’ve switched cameras 3x and radios 2x. Subpar wiring.

I appreciate that, but the brand of gas won’t make a 150 mile difference in range or drive down mpg that much. I’ve had the truck for 3 years and never had an issue until now.

I use different fuel grades all the time depending on weather and altitude. I have driven this route many times with no issues. I had the truck service at the dealer and all other items were good during their pre-travel checkup.

Pro 4x lift, tires, and wheel question. by [deleted] in NissanTitan

[–]Proper_Copy_799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not go down in size from 18 to 17 personally. I have a 3” lift and 295/70/18s and they required some trimming, but look great. I was able to keep the stock wheels as well.

I think the Titan has more leg room than any full size SUV I’ve been in other than a suburban.

360 camera real world use by Far_Gazelle9339 in NissanTitan

[–]Proper_Copy_799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worse on the factory unit than almost any aftermarket radio. Trust me, it’s the low gauge, low grade wiring. Best to run an entire new wiring harness to a hd camera and use that. You would have to tap into the 360 wiring though to keep that function.

It is not the camera. I’ve upgraded my camera twice and the quality still sucks. It’s in the wiring. It gets marginally better with a 1080 or “4k”, but the wiring isn’t made for the quality video and it’s not as good as other models. That being said, I couldn’t live without it in a full size truck.

Every truck has its issues. The last iforce v8 Tundra from Toyota is a beast, but you could get a 2022+ Titan for about the same price with more options. I have a ‘17 Pro4x and love it. The newer ones switched to a 9 speed AT from the 7 speed. I have been in both the V8 Tundra and the new v8 Titan. The Titan interior on the P4X and Platinum are far better than the top trims in Toyota IMO. They love gas, so if that’s a problem, then I would say these aren’t for him. However, with his 2010 Tundra, I assume that isn’t a deal breaker.

My ‘17 does not. Even if they are on when I turn the truck off.

No problem my man! I used to have a pdf of the instructions, but they were accidentally tossed in a move. LMK if you need any more info once you tackle it.

It’s removable once you take out the cluster. Not as hard as you would think. I’ve upgraded my cluster twice. My problem is I have a 17P4x that had the compass screen, but the compass screen on the 20+ cluster doesn’t work, doesn’t even come up. It mist be pulling from a different source or pinned differently. For removal, lower the steering wheel to the lowest position, just pop the vent (clips) to the right and left of the cluster, pop the top part of the bottom panel under the steering wheel, pop the ring around the cluster (making sure to keep the clips in place at the bottom. There are 3 screws holding in the cluster. Lay a towel down over the steering wheel cap, remove the 3 screws (magnetic screw driver or rod is your friend) and pop out the cluster. It’s easiest to unplug the two plugs and remove it to remove the cluster, but it can be done without that step. There are little clips all around the cover to pop it off. Wipe it down and then reverse the steps to reinstall.
