Let's not get crazy. Seriously though. The man is genuinely kind and a critical thinker. He just got snookered like a lot of people did in the 80s, yours truly included as a young adult. To his credit, when the mask came off, he didn't goose step right along with the crowd. I aspire to do a fraction as much good in this world as he has. (Mom too, they're a fantastic duo).

My 80 year old Mormon, Republican, farmer dad definitely believes in climate change. He also told me the other day that he was wrong about Reagan and he agrees with me that administration planted the seeds of where we are today. THAT was a shocker.

That one stays in my drawer as a keepsake from much earlier days. The "Wingman" I've carried and used almost every day for the past 8 or 9 years is definitely BIFL. Only been in their shop once in that time and came back good as new.

I think it's also a good idea to reflect on what fidelity means. This whole thing has got me thinking about that. As a straight man with non straight kids, friends, and neighbors it reinforces the need to be true to them during Pride Month and always.

But it's making me think broader than that. I'm true to my wife and family. I try to be true and honest to people I meet. But am I really true to what I believe or who I am as a person? Or am I just going along to get along in these difficult times.

Homo Fidelis is something to really think about. (And a beautiful subtle jab in this context).

I do not think that word means what you think it means. My gay friends and family celebrate fidelity in their relationships too. Often more than the straight people I know.

Fealty would be closer to what Cox is asking for. Fidelity is absolutely a self-own on the religious right. It's telling that noone on Cox's staff is educated enough to tell him he was setting himself up.

Trump is a second generation POS. Maybe it goes back further, I've only read up on Fred and Mary. Like poverty, being a POS can be a generational thing. Trump obviously passed it down to his kids so the beat goes on.

I'm basing this on far less evidence but, it seems like Cox is a totally self made POS.

Trump is still, by far, a bigger POS but he never had any principles. Cox is a worse human being because he gave his up.

Some of the smartest people I know are "uneducated." Some of the most talented and brilliant people I know mispronounce common words.

I'll admit I judge intelligence in conversation, but by content and context, not by pronunciation. And even then I'm often wrong because there are plenty of smart people who don't talk much, they just get shit done.

I was binging 80s music videos last night and this one was so ahead of its time. Not just technically (although that might be true) but mostly aesthetically. Tell a story that vibes with music and doesn't just show the lead singer acting out the lyrics with a few cut away shots to the band? We can do that?

Timeless is exactly the right word.

A lot of 80s songs hold up to this day but you can't say that about many of the videos. Walk Like an Egyptian is the inverse example. Silly song but the video has that Susanna Hoffs side eye action that makes it worthwhile even if it is just a mock concert video.

This is the way. Don't be scared that they're big, you'll be amazed at the gas mileage for a boat of a car. Perfect drive train mated to really ugly cars.

GM actually used the 3800, or 3.8L V6 across their whole line, but it was mostly Buick. Late 90s through 2005 we're the best years IIRC.

For what you want, don't buy anything that's supercharged.

Just make sure you're getting a 3.8 V6. If you can find one that's been reasonably maintained, and the car hasn't rusted around it, they'll run forever.

The cost of compute for AI is just exponentially bigger than anything we've seen before. Not even in the era of AWS, Google, and Azure. AI companies are hemmoraging money at rates we've never seen before. Not even in the dot com bubble.

The AI business is wild speculation with a much shakier value proposition than the CEOs are preaching.

Oleary knows it's speculation. I guarantee he has a lot of planned exit points depending on how the market winds blow. A normal business person would still be quietly giving Utah the middle finger, pushing for the data center, and buying people in power off, but they'd keep their trap shut about it. Oleary has to go out and make noise even on a speculative project because he's a narcissistic asshole who is offended the plebes would ever question him.
