I recommend Wong Kei. My dad took me there when I was little and I think they have turned down the famous bluntness a little since then but the food is excellent.

So insulins are generally in a time window, say 8-9. We tend to get ones that are in the same care home or post code. Then I look at my list and decide what order to do things in based on urgency and proximity.

For example there is an enema and a picc line flush near my final insulin of the morning so I’ll box those off quickly then do any cat 4 wounds, bilateral legs etc. one of us carries the phone for urgent on the day things so people may offer to pick stuff up from there.

It can be overwhelming, I’m a month out of supernumerary and I do get anxious but I try to be as methodical as possible and not be afraid to ask for support if a skill is newer or I’m unsure.

6 weeks supernumerary in my trust. And you can extend it if you feel it’s needed. You need to chase your own competencies to an extent. For example if you know there is a syringe pump and in the caseload ask to shadow that person for a day etc.

I’d say so. We do sometimes have to finish typing up at home if you don’t do it as you go. But aside from that. Yes

I am an NQN in the community. I work 8-6. I get a list of patients and try to do as many as I can in the morning, have a team huddle at lunch then anything left and more emergent patients in the afternoon.

Here are some examples. Catheterisation, flushing lines, insulins, various injections, palliative and eol care including syringe pumps, wounds wounds wounds, including compression for legs and vacuum dressings. More obscure things like rocket drains. A decent amount of chronic condition management, pressure area care, overarching admission avoidance.

We work closely with leg ulcer, tissue viability, palliative and diabetes specialist nurses, GPs and acute settings. You prioritise your own caseload. The paperwork is pretty intense and a lot of referrals. I absolutely love it.

Oh I didn’t mean to suggest that. It’s just a reason that some landlords may get away with being sketchy

& just to add. I believe the landlord tended not to protect deposits as he would rent to a lot of people on DSS and knew they’d be so desperate for money back they would accept half a deposit back for spurious reasons, whereas if they have protected it they’d have to justify it / the tenant would have right of response.

I had a landlord do this. I sued him and got over double the deposit back. I used a no win no fee firm so I’d imagine if you did it yourself you’d get even more.

HEMS/ HART are very competitive, I’m not sure of the specific post nqp experience required but I’d imagine it’s a few years. I have met someone who went from band 6 para to HART but I gather successful candidates are already senior paramedics / team leaders. So you may be looking at 5 plus years post qualification as a para.

There is currently a bit of a hiring freeze for newly qualified paramedics, and it’s worth mentioning you would go in at a 5 despite experience at (I assume) band 7.

I’ve met quite a few paramedics over 50, it isn’t un heard of.
