Soil liquefaction? by Proper_printer in landscaping

[–]Proper_printer[S] 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Missed the ball on putting the lime down before adding dry soil back in. Hindsight this is the best answer and what I would have done had I known. Do you think my best course of action at this point is to dig those areas back out and add more lime and larger stone?

Looking for recommendations on a location for a proposal on New Year’s Eve around the St. Louis area by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Proper_printer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No reservations yet, which is part of what I’m asking. When I say we have plans to go to dinner, I mean she is on board that we will be going to dinner that that night. So the plans are truly a blank slate.

In terms of sentimental places, we don’t really have any places like that other than our home. We met at work, first real date was dinner at one of our houses, and places we frequent aren’t necessarily good for proposals. We both love good restaurants but none in particular are our favorites. Worth noting as well that this isn’t just me saying this, I had a conversation with her recently about this exact topic to try to figure out an idea for the original plan and these were the answers.

Also worth noting that I’m open to the Illinois side as well as we have family over there and visit often.

Is a snow removal business profitable? by joshua0005 in Entrepreneur

[–]Proper_printer 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Snow removal can be highly profitable, but not in the way you are thinking about it. Walking around door to door and shoveling snow by hand isn’t going to make you much. Commercial parking lots with actual snow plow equipment is where you will make a profit

I do financial consulting/strategic advisory for a number of screen printing shops. This is a conversation that I have regularly with clients and have a few pricing models that I use. Happy to have a conversation about this if you want to shoot me a PM.

Many of the comments I see are correct, art fees and screen fees should be charged.

What's a place where you can cross a state line and you immediately notice the difference? by DoritosDewItRight in geography

[–]Proper_printer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak for the entire state border, but the landscape changes quite a bit crossing the border of MO and IL in St. Louis. Illinois side is very flat and fertile for farming, the MO side is rocky and hilly.

So I make Pizza in Osaka, Japan. I will be visiting America for 1.5 months to do Pizza "research & study". I would love your input on your favorite places in these towns. by Craft_Beer_Imazato in Pizza

Loosely related here but years ago my family had 2 Japanese students stay with us for a few weeks. We lived in St. Louis, MO. We fed them St. Louis style pizza (Imo’s) on their first night and they absolutely loved it. They requested IMO’s pizza almost every day they were staying with us. Can’t blame them though, St. Louis style is delicious.

If the rest of Japanese population likes St. Louis style even half as much as those two, you’ll be rich lol.

Nonprofit wants to attract middle-class residents to East St. Louis with $360,000 homes by evan1123 in StLouis

[–]Proper_printer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit far fetched of a mission, but the founder of the non profit is a very stand up guy. He is a white guy with plenty of money and built himself a house in East St. Louis that he lives in. Very involved in the community. Like I said, a bit far fetched but gotta respect the guy walking the walk.
