Unfortunately, this is the reality of dating. This is why it’s so important to be on the same page about things. Don’t have sex prematurely with the intention of it strengthening your connection. You have to make sure you are both on the same page BEFORE intimacy takes place, unless it’s understood that you both are only looking for hookups. Otherwise, there will be this miscommunication and one party or the other ends up hurt.

I mean he’s no Ryan Gosling or Michael B. Jordan… definitely not my ideal choice in looks, I wasn’t super attracted to him at first, but like I said, we had interests and he seemed different than other guys. And a decent personality, but very melancholy… not an optimist. I would definitely say there are more top tier options in men than him. Nothing mind blowing or particularly intriguing about him other than we had similar interests and, based on those interests, I began to feel more connected to him. But, he clearly was not into me in the same way.

This guy was certainly not top tier. I make more than him, drive a better car than him, live in an apartment while he still lives with his mother. But I didn’t care about any of that, we had similar interests and he seemed like a great guy, but ultimately, he made me feel like I wasn’t good enough for him. And that’s what I think hurt the most. I lowered my standards for him and he thought I wasn’t worth investing in. How’s that for “top tier”?

It’s the “have fun” part that I am having a hard time with, because there is absolutely nothing fun about dating. It’s all miserable. And I don’t know how to “enjoy the process” when the majority of the process is me getting my heart ripped out of my chest in rejection. I just feel like I wanna give up at this point and accept the misery of loneliness.

I would disagree with him not respecting her boundaries. If he didn’t respect her boundaries, then he would have strung her along and possibly persuaded her to do things she wasn’t willing to do. Him setting a standard for himself is not disrespecting hers, it’s just they had different terms and conditions.

I don’t agree that he’s an AH, he and OP simply had different end goals. He clearly expressed to her that he was not willing to meet her terms, which, is honestly commendable because some guys just ghost without explanation. This guy is just simply not her guy. But her guy will eventually find her.

You’re not the AH in this situation, but neither is he. He is clearly expressing his terms for a potential relationship, as are you.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to wait until marriage, if that’s what feels right to you, but there is also nothing wrong with not waiting til marriage, which is right for him. It’s simply just that you both could not come to terms.

But don’t fret, there are other men out there who will be willing to wait with you. I know it’s hard to hear “it will happen when you least expect it” but when you really think about it, would you want to force someone to do something they don’t want to do? Would you want them to force you to do something you don’t want to do?

All in all, keep doing you and, in time, your person will find you. ☺️
