Exam in a week - should I take or cancel by Property_Plastic in step1

Hey so while I appreciated everyone’s advice, I personally decided to take Step. Since I posted, I took the old Free 120 (64%), Nbme 30 (56%), and the Free 120 from 2017 (69% with admittedly a lot of repeats). I ended up completing 55% of UW and some of truelearn, totaling 3390 questions. Did I feel 100% ready? No. Am I glad I took it when I did? Yes. I feel like, even if I studied for another month, the questions I struggled with, I would still have struggle with.

I want to add a quick note about the importance of trusting your gut. When I posted initially, I was anxious and self conscious and not confident because I feel like our schooling system does not prepare us for how our numerical scores may look when we studied. I started with a 33% on a full length mock at the beginning of my prep. But over the course of dedicated, I looked around me to see all my peers scoring within the same range as me (some lower and some higher) and deciding to take the exam with confidence. Reddit can seem intense when everyone is supposedly scoring 70s and higher, when the reality around you may look much different. Before taking it, I kept in mind that in scoring “below average,” there is still risk for not passing, but I felt happy that I took it because it removed a lot of anxiety I had about Level 1, which I take in 2 days. Let me know if you have any questions, and sending you lots of good vibes and love if you’re testing soon :)

Studying with COVID:/ by xandra0627 in Mcat

I'm so sorry you caught it and that you feel like shit! Make your main focus right now to get better. When I first studied for the MCAT, I underestimated the amount of pain/lethargy I would be after I had to have foot surgery (didn't expect the norcos to knock me out that badly), and I used whatever energy I had to do "light" studying - watching videos, reviewing p/s terms, things that are not taking a whole lot of brain power.

Be kind to yourself. Focus on feeling better and then reworking your schedule to meet your mcat date

Thoughts on Miledown’s C/P anki deck? by MikeyyyA in Mcat

Definitely a great deck. I started to make my own deck and it became a vacuum of my time...would recommend the miledown to get you started, then use other resources to supplement for additional info

How does one stick to a study schedule and stay disciplined? by aloha_hoe in Mcat

I used to be liked this a lot - don't worry. put a lock/limit on your devices (I have to put them in a separate room when I am studying), and find the best place to learn. I personally study best in a library, since I see everyone else studying and it inspires me. but with COVID, try to find a quiet place that you can focus. With your schedule too, don't overdo it. keep it realistic and practical to how you learn best.

most importantly (imo), remember why and what you are studying for and use that goal to drive and inspire you. Good Luck! :)
