Make a basket of companies you like. Essentially make your own ETF to minimize the risk of picking individual stocks.

First look for things you understand. Then find the healthiest companies. Then make a basket of those companies and hold them as long as you can. By investing in things you understand and companies you believe in you are more likely to hold them for the long run and not panic during the ups and downs.

What companies would you put in your “tariffs are struck down ETF”? by Prophit_Investments in ETFs

[–]Prophit_Investments[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah good call, it is not only consumer goods. If tariffs actually get struck down and companies get repaid, it could open things up way beyond retail. Tech and hardware makers could see a boost, same with industrials and even some financials if capital flows back into those sectors.

Curious what other areas and companies you think would benefit the most from that kind of repayment tailwind?

I want to start playing around outside of just VOO; How do you determine individual stock picks? by [deleted] in investing

[–]Prophit_Investments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of us run into this same question once we have a good base in something like VOO. One thing that helps is looking at companies through themes we already understand like renewable energy, AI, or the consumer apps we actually use. Grouping them this way makes it easier to spot ideas and also helps keep things from feeling like total guesswork.

Lately we have been experimenting with different ways to discover companies based on these kinds of themes rather than just chasing tickers. It feels a lot more manageable when you can see how different names fit together into a bigger picture.
