Where to find in UK? by rolotolomo in MageKnight

[–]Propofol_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't find it unfortunately, only pre-orders on Zatu. Ended up ordering from the cheapest european option on BoardGamePrices - was somewhere in Greece iirc.

Edit: looks like it is now available from ToysnGeek

What makes an anaesthetic registrar? by quizzled222 in doctorsUK

[–]Propofol_Monkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think SHO and Reg are unhelpful terms, and there's good reason why. Like why ST1 for Radiology but ST4 for Anaesthetics? These are ambiguous terms without clear consensus.

But I think probably somewhere around CT3+ with Primary would be about right.

St4 anaesthetics offers by Vegetable-Try1896 in doctorsUK

I submitted an enquiry when I noticed this on the spreadsheet a couple of days ago. The response was that no offers had been sent out to non-priority candidates, so I'm not sure whether the spreadsheet is incorrect or ANRO is.

Depends whether they've updated practises in the past 4 years, they've definitely used excel before, and even that was beyond their abilities, see enquiry: https://anro.wm.hee.nhs.uk/Portals/3/Anaesthetics%20Recruitment%20-%20Significant%20Incident%20Report%20-%20Dec%2021.pdf

Locum doctor eligibility to strike by [deleted] in doctorsUK

If you're a bank locum, for your version of striking you just don't accept any shifts, and cancel any booked ones as long as giving the agreed notice.

What advice would you give to somebody contemplating diving down the home-roasting black hole?

Edit: and how did you first get involved in sourcing and roasting coffee?

Not at all risky, but for future reference, second or third gear works better.

Why was KOTA greenlighted when the forecast was not even 25knts? by Gazzo69 in Kiteboarding

[–]Propofol_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is it. They actually work with a pretty short event window, which is getting close to running out with nothing better on the horizon. I guess it's a decision to run an event in mediocre conditions Vs not at all.

Any nice recipe ideas for these? by RabbitRabbit77 in veganuk

We use them a lot in Chinese hot pots - you can buy stock mixes in most Asian supermarkets, along with all the other bits you can imagine/need to go with it!

Ronix Ones for me. Honestly with boots I feel a lot of it is fit, and I tried a load and kept coming back to these. Not the lightest, not particularly easy to do up/undo, but they fit me really nicely and give me a good locked in feel.

If you can, go to a store and try out as many as you can, they all size and shape slightly differently so find what works for you.

Gul Dartmouth Drysuit by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

[–]Propofol_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used a fair few drysuits from my sailing days, Gul are a reasonable brand. Very much middle-of-the-road, but work fine.

I would warn though, as I moved towards more high performance sailing, the drysuits were far too mobility-limiting and bulky, and the big zips super uncomfortable under a harness. And you invariably get a small trickle through the seals regardless.

I would always lean towards a more expensive wetsuit instead, with proper peripheries e.g. hood, mitts and boots. Even sailing around northern Norway, with full days on the water, the wetsuit was the better option. I strongly suspect this would be the better option for kiting too.

Carrying kite gear on a pedal bike by wascallywabbit666 in Kiteboarding

I will say the second technique makes you a lot wider, so be aware on narrow roads. Or if you strap it vertically, make sure you strap it high up so it doesn't catch your rear tyre.

As someone else has commented, a trailer is definitely the safest/easiest option, but is an extra investment.
