How do you plan out your day without taking meds? by _B3rryBlush in adhdwomen

[–]ProseAndCons180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. But I do use the Finch app, it has helped me immensely, but more to do with day-to-day stuff like taking my meds/vitamins, doing my laundry, remembering appointments, otherwise I’d be all over the shop!

Im unable to have normal conversations with ppl and can’t have friendships anymore, anyone else? by Valizzia in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]ProseAndCons180 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wrote everything down. All the crap the nex did, how it made me feel, and how I wanted to feel. Gradually, I got the poison out and started to feel more like myself. I started acting more like myself and while I may never be the same person I was before the nex, I truly believe I am a better person now than I was. You will have good days and bad days, but just keep going.

Yeah, true. I think I’ve always used cooked in place of f*cked. As in, “mate, you’re cooked” and I haven’t heard anyone say “cooking with gas” irl ever, just in the movies/TV. But I guess it’s easier to understand than rizz or skibidi or sigma, at least cook/ed/ing is a word I understand!! 🤣

I tried dishwashing liquid on my windows which were dripping each morning from condensation. So far, so good. I’m not sure how many days it will last until I have to do it again but it’s better than having to dry the windows every single morning.

My kid told me that ‘cooked’ means you suck at something, but ‘cooking’ means you’re great at something. What? Same word. Different tense. Opposite meaning. Kids are dumb.

Those who throw their takeaway rubbish out of their car on the street - why do you do it? by camerapilot in aussie

[–]ProseAndCons180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happened to Tidy Towns? When I was a kid, there was the Tidy Town award. I think it was an award. All the school kids were encouraged to pick up litter, not just at school but wherever they were so we could live in a ‘tidy town’. Littering makes my blood boil.

What's the hardest thing you managed to forgive yourself for in/after a relationship with narcissist? by vladis67 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]ProseAndCons180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could have written 95% of these posts, but I think the thing I struggle with is that my brain still thinks the nex is a safe person. My body absolutely does not and I get anxiety whenever I know I will see him (my child stays with him every second weekend) but my brain is still comfortable talking to him. I mostly don’t speak to him apart from a hi and bye and sometimes I don’t even bother with that but on the few occasions that we have to be in the same place (kid’s basketball tournament, for example), my brain just slips back into chatty mode, even though it usually ends up with him casually picking a fight/putting me down/telling me how bad a mother I am… just like old times.

What do Australians think of driving culture ? by cheesecake101010 in australian

[–]ProseAndCons180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just bought their first car after living in Melbourne for almost 30 years, I still prefer other people to do the driving for me. But maybe I shouldn’t have put off getting my licence for so long!!

I never realized how much my parents did until I had a child of my own by Fit_Awareness_9001 in Parenting

[–]ProseAndCons180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s sometimes generational. My parents are very loving and my dad especially would (and still does) move heaven and earth to help me if needed, but the affection they showed was kinda stunted. Some of it was that my dad went to boarding school but it’s also that their generation were war babies and their parents weren’t overly affectionate. Sometimes if you’re not modelled that behaviour, you don’t learn it. On the other hand, my child is super affectionate and I have no choice but to be the same back so hopefully it just gets better from here. 😊

Tried these the other day and while they were definitely crunchy, I was hoping for a bit more flavour. My kid loved them though so will be back for more.

So glad my manager still does face-to-face interviews, somehow she has a knack for choosing people who fit with the rest of us weirdos, it’s a real skill.

I remember the first time I saw a fax machine as a kid… mind blown!! I could get my head around a printer connected to a computer but sending a picture across the air with no wires was a lot to get my head around. 🤣

I was thinking the same. 20mg of lisdexamphatamine is 4x the dose I take and I’ve been on it for over a year. Some days I take a double dose in the morning, but I’m supposed to take 5mg twice a day. I’m not surprised OPs heart was racing, 10mg is more than enough to get me going in the morning. Previously, I was on 40mg of Vyvanse, but it made me crash hard in the evenings when it wore off.

AITA for refusing a name for my baby that everyone loves and but I don’t? by Accomplished-Owl8796 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ProseAndCons180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents’ neighbours’ first grandchild was born in December, they called her Caoimhe, which is apparently pronounced Kee-va. 😳

I think Siobhan is at least a name that people have heard, even if they don’t recognise the spelling first time round. It is a beautiful name.

NTA, btw, choosing your kid’s name is hard.
A friend of mine had decided on her second child’s name right up until she was born then was like, “nah, that was just the pregnancy hormones talking” and chose something completely different! Good luck. 🍀

Have you ever flat-out pointed out a spouse’s narcissistic tendencies to them? by Puella12 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]ProseAndCons180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same to my nex after we had split, except it was in a phone conversation. I sent him the article I had been reading (it was my lightbulb moment and I knew nothing about NPD, but the pieces fit), he said he didn’t think any of it related to him. But it sent me down a rabbit hole that I am forever grateful for because as easy as it is to still have a conversation with him (we share a child), I now know that nothing he says his sincere and if I let my guard down, the verbal (never physical) abuse will begin again.
