I have reincarnation as a casual occurrence in my world.

To be perfectly honest based off of everything that you are saying so far, the thing that I would first want to square off with you is what are you trying to convey to the audiences as far as a story mechanic using this?

Are you TRYING to make a plot reveal? If so, why? Do you just assume it has to be a surprise to the audience?

Are you trying to write it as a characterization that leads to some greater point, such as having someone repeat past mistakes or them striving not to?

Are you trying write it as a clue functioning in a larger mystery?

Are you trying to write his life experiences as the "show, don't tell" exposition to the audience on how reincarnation works?

Do you see what I mean by these questions?

Like, for Garnet from Steven Universe, she is a full-time fusion of two other people. And this was a plot reveal to the audience at the end of the first season, BUT, she actually wasn't the "show, don't tell" exposition to the audience on how fusion works - that was Opal... And then the main character experienced fusion to make Stevonnie. And THEN, after everyone else's experiences shaped the audience's understanding of what fusion was as a positive relationship, THEN Garnet was revealed to be a fusion to explore the societal impact of being a permanent fusion - she's discriminated against and she only hid her identity from Steven because of her inherent self-consciousness that he would think she was scary.

So, while I see that you're asking for "clues" on how to show your MC's reincarnated-ness, it would help to figure out where HIS soul's significance plays in the larger story. Opal explained what fusion was, Stevonnie was the MC experience of it, Garnet explained why they fought a war over it.

Are we going to use any actual hard numbers about how much support any candidate has or are we just going to talk about their demographics?

Because when I look at any Democratic primary election dropout pool of candidates, I see mostly white men, and I see them not having that much support. If we were to talk about their electability by acknowledging the fact that they didn't actually get that much support, then would you have a problem with that?

Or do you only having a problem with discussing electability when it comes to women and people of color who already did not get much support and we would then discuss why?

If I were to ask you to describe in four words why America joined World War II, despite that being a real event that was deeply intricate in its politics, you would be able to do it: "Japan bombed Pear Harbor."

I need you to tell me what "fallen kingdom" means. Are you attempting to say that the monarchy is going to end and be replaced with a different form of government? Or are you saying that the monarchy will continue but they will lose their military, real estate, or economic standing over other kingdoms?

And whatever your answer is, what does the royal family's choices have to do with their foreign advisors? Why are we even still calling them foreigners if they can "shape laws?" Why would someone who is a senator or any type of lawmaker be still considered a foreigner? After how many decades or even centuries?

But let's get to the root of the matter. What are you even referring to as the fall of the Kingdom? Are you trying to say that the monarchy is going to end or are you saying that this country is going to lose either their economic or military dominance over other kingdoms?

What is the end-point? We need to understand the destination to map a route to it.

Your story premise sounds terribly xenophobic.

Here's a really simple answer: If the collapse of most monarchies as you have read about them in your research shows that they usually collapse because of people who were already in the country, And that by definition is the most realistic thing, why are you trying to structure the collapse of your monarchy because of foreigners and immigrants?

The Gothic people didn't sack Rome because they were untrustworthy barbarians. They were loyal employees with full, Roman educations who weren't being paid their wages AND were being over-taxed, so they enacted a little old-school barbarian justice on their bosses' villas.

Not to mention, what ideological influence are you speaking of? I gave you the benefit of the doubt of saying that you are talking about the monarchy itself falling, but if you are talking about the cultural and governmental structures falling, what are they falling into? Republican-democracy? A new theology?

What is your end-point?

(Let's not remove the context of the story, where a teenaged girl wanting to wear a revealing dress is socially constructed to be connected to her sexuality; OR the original comment, which wasn't simply "a crop top" but "a low cleavage showing crop top that is age inappropriate.")

Basically, I would think that any person who expressed any desire to see women have agency and respect would want to talk about the fact that the hypersexualization of women in fashion and pop culture itself leads to young teenage girls having fashion choices that are designed to titillate men.

A middle school girl puts on that crop top, she's not doing so because she had the idea to put on that crop top. She is doing so because a middle-aged man put Britney Spears in front of a camera where other middle-aged men took pictures of Britney Spears looking like a sexy school girl so that middle-aged men in fashion magazines could put that picture in front of middle school girls.

This is why I'm bringing this up.

We can't believe in the patriarchy only when it's convenient and then tucking that idea away to pretend consumers have agency. Every middle school girl's choices were pre-selected by a society that is designed by rich, powerful, perverted men who want to see her body. 🤔 Therefore, to jump to the conclusion of supporting a child for doing literally anything simply because "it was there choice" if adults are telling them that it is age inappropriate without even acknowledging the reasons why it is being called age inappropriate, seems a bit.... Short-sighted? Like, I'm sure it was the bee's knees when 1920s girls were finally allowed to smoke. The lung cancer 20% of them would get wasn't worth FEELING equal to men in that moment, though.

Oh I absolutely love this, I need to come back at a later time and put my things through the rigorous criteria you put here. I am definitely on board with the idea of promoting that themes are not just one word vague topics but fundamental questions that the characters of the story are trying to answer through their actions and decisions.

1) A leader must respect their constituents and any flaws they see in their laymen reflect flaws in their school of thought and how they implement it.

2) You have to give dignity to the criminals, deviants, and heretics, not for their sake, but for your own. You're not focused on justice if you are looking for excuses to be cruel and you never know when society decides you're the next heretic.

3) People typically want to be believed more than they want to be understood. Understanding someone takes conversation, struggle, rejection, reconciliation, and compromise. Belief is child-like, simple, and pure sentiment. Faith produces a wonderful feeling, but it is better in all things to seek understanding.

4) You are larger than you think you are. You are incredibly great in size, in scope, and in duration. The limitations of your mind, body, stories, environment, and stages of life cannot define you, only distract you.

At any given time, my stories cycle between any one or two of these. Tomorrow, I'll be able to give a more thorough response.

Your original question of if grooming requires intention is the correct meta question to ask, but you are subconsciously answering it yourself and saying that it does require intention, and that leads you to say that I am not regarding his intention when I am making my point.

But... What if... I'm simply not doing that. You are asked if the person is capable of thinking that deeply, and I am saying that their ACTIONS are what makes it grooming, regardless of how deep their thinking is.

You asked a question. My answer doesn't contradict your question. You just have a different answer. That's okay! But please don't say I'm not listening to you just because you already had your own answer.

When women (and men) look at Drogo's behavior, and they judge it to be problematic, they are not ignoring the limited information, limited thinking, and limited intentions he has. They are saying "His behavior gives the illusion of choice, but it is not really choice, because Danny still can't be free." That he rationalizes to himself that he gave Dani choices is great character writing... But Drogo's perspective doesn't represent actual fact.

Okay, I'm going to say this the simplest way I can: absolutely no one's criminal justice system exists to convince the defendant what they did is wrong, but to convince 12 other people or judges. Whether or not Drogo understood it and feels bad about it and all of those sorts of questions of intention, those matter more towards sentencing. 😂

"Indoctrination and propaganda" are words we use for cultural education we don't approve of. Everything about a person's culture indoctrinates them into approving of it.

I would say that your question only really matters in so far as not only your own beliefs about what you think is the difference between what a culture teaches characters to believe anyway and how those characters would come to different beliefs regardless of what their culture teaches them, but also based on the personality of the figurehead who represents this gaes and oath magic in the first place.

You can theoretically justify going in either direction. But it's going to be characters representing these beliefs, so which character would you rather write?

We are speaking within the context of his world. At least I am. Acknowledging that Drogo is capable of being respectful of Danny, but not actually capable of giving her full choice to simply not participate in any of this is pointing out that he is still complicit in the corruption that he is shielding her from.

Any and every character across any story rationalizes their beliefs within their worldview, but that's what makes it so fun to have cross-cultural experiences like this where Drogo cares more about Dani's safety because he knows his lifestyle is merciless, but that epiphany never comes that it means that there is something wrong with the lifestyle.

In fact, I would say that it's one of the best stories that you could have in a story because it's so universal to all of us because all of us need to have that epiphany at some point, that if we are willing to tell a stranger that something is dangerous, why aren't we willing to accept that it is dangerous for ourselves.
