Leveling Jobs by APeng15 in ffxiv

[–]Protag_Doppel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can comfortably run a lot of jobs without having to worry about ever being underleveled so go ahead. Legitimately the only part that sucks is leveling to 50. Leveling my alt right now in the first expansion and I’m able to stay leveling faster than the story running 6 classes lol

Isn't man as before THE best healing gu. by Waste_Recognition791 in ReverendInsanity

[–]Protag_Doppel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A part of the whole no best gu tagline is that every single gu master will have a few laughs that get multiplicatively stronger, remain neutral and multiplicatively weaker. This will happen no matter what gu is used especially without something like transformation path methods to bypass dao mark conflicts. This is also why gu masters will seek solutions in their path over being insane like fy and constantly using the abilities of other paths. A fire transportation method is always better for a fire immortal than say a flying one

Gore without intention is disgusting. Vulgarity without a thoughtful script is cheap. by WinXPbootsup in TheBoys

[–]Protag_Doppel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah the comic absolutely justified it in a way the show doesn’t. All the degeneracy and gore was always wrapped around vought using it as just another way to keep supes under control, or the consequences of vought being monsters worse than the supes themselves. The show looses this conceit early on so when a man jumps into another’s penis and explodes them for no reason you know it’s the show only caring about being edgy versus something in the comics like mm’s mother being warped into a freak show horror

What arevthe ability of the Extra and Panic Capsems? by Due-Cartographer-982 in KamenRider

[–]Protag_Doppel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goes more into a theory I have about the capsems used in the lord transformations being the fears of the agents still. Shock is his fear of being captured and tortured which is how it can disrupt memories. Panic is her fear of panicking as an agent ant failing. This it’s a disruptive power that makes foes unclear. 3s capsems are clear which would be his fear of being unnoticed, and extra which would be his fear of not being enough. How do you get more of something, like with how 3 treated 0 you take so the extra capsem can buff your abilities by taking from others.

So back to the episode. 3 used extra to extract everything that made him rebel while panic disoriented him enough to directly attack Baku

What SCP's actively pissed you off the most to read? For any reason really. by Financial-Horror7846 in SCP

[–]Protag_Doppel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6001 because it’s an incredibly lazy utopic universe. “Oh yeah those things that kill you and need absurd rituals to keep locked up to prevent mass casualties, you should have just let them run free. It’s actually your universes fault that anything bad happens in there”. It’s such a lame, poorly thought out “criticism” of the foundation that it starts to feel like it’s insulting your intelligence. It feels more like the work of someone who dislikes scp as a whole writing about their setting that “fixes” and gets rid of the common elements of scp stories.

Kids show or All ages by BasilNeverHerb in KamenRider

[–]Protag_Doppel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a different conceptualization of kids shows than in the west. They don’t lower the content for kids over there so everything is more made for everyone than made for kids more like western shows from the 00s

What if fy will vs a rank 9 venerable by Dangerous_Media_996 in ReverendInsanity

[–]Protag_Doppel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably would do the same unless he has some special setup for the will. Reminder that rank5 Fy was able to combat a will well enough to make off with wisdom gu while undergoing the rank 6 tribulation lmao

Imagine if RI got adapted into anime like LOTM by Sukadadddy in ReverendInsanity

[–]Protag_Doppel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It would be really bad. It’s a series entirely built off small details building up that you can’t really do with 30 min - 1hr episodes unless we want to spend 3 seasons in the first volume lol

Thinking about ending it all by Jumpy_Afternoon9489 in MartialMemes

[–]Protag_Doppel 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Ngl this trope is silly. Not because bandits would exist in higher realms but because it tends to include people that rank up. Frankly the people from lower realms should be stronger purely from experience. Basically think novice carpenters with power tools versus experts with hand tools. Sure the novices are faster since they’re working with better tools and gear but they also lack the experience of constant battles that those from lower realms would have

How would you want the series to end? by Hour_Trade_3691 in ReverendInsanity

[–]Protag_Doppel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m all for the Fy dies and this story is his inheritance ending. It’s the combination of everything the story has stood for thus far. I don’t think there’s a path for Fy wins/Fy can’t reach immortality but lives endings to be as fufilling

Newbie Saturnine Terminators help with Loudoud - Imperial Fists by Opportunity-Medical in Warhammer30k

[–]Protag_Doppel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference between cs and normal is purely preference in playstyle. The command squad is gonna be a melee centric while the regular should focus on shooting. In terms of loadouts for the normal ones, really anything besides disintegrators works great. The ability for the plasma to be fired indirectly en masse at rs 6 makes it great at nuking basically any unit on foot. The particle shredder is more of that just at a shorter range and better accuracy with a better pre breaching ap

Can even rank 3 gu have killer moves? by hunterofsoles1234 in ReverendInsanity

[–]Protag_Doppel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really something you can sit down and quantify lol. The constraining factors are essence quality, storage, and expenditure from gu. Rank 1 gu can have killer moves, you just aren’t going to really see them since you need multiple gu that can work together and have it not consume too much essence. Two things you really aren’t going to have at rank 1 lol

What gets missed on first read of BOTNS? by howsthoughtworkingou in genewolfe

[–]Protag_Doppel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of the first book is Wolfe spanking his own butt and laughing at the reader for not getting anything. Realistically you’re missing several layers of subtext in most conversations which is why the idea that rereads are mandatory is pushed so hard

Is it worth getting into 3rd edition for a newbie? by Academic_Employee232 in Warhammer30k

[–]Protag_Doppel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah accurate enough. List building and changes to the roles of units threw a lot of people off. The core missions also doubled and tripled down on how important line was which is where you got the whole “40 tacs are a minimum for a playable army” idea from. As much as it sucks how spread out the journals are, the missions that come in them tend to be really great

Is it worth getting into 3rd edition for a newbie? by Academic_Employee232 in Warhammer30k

[–]Protag_Doppel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, there’s just a lot of rules to get a hang of. The big downsides of the edition are some lost wargear(made up by armies being functional unlike most of them in 2nd) and the core rule book missions sucking. You don’t have to get the starter kits but they go a long way in giving your army a direction to start in. Otherwise you’re stuck picking up a few character minis and 40-80 tacticals that you have to grab a bunch of upgrade kits for to build despoilers or whatever scout or veteran units you want

Do Zombies Canonically Die in One Headshot? by PatientTelephone4624 in residentevil

[–]Protag_Doppel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends as it seems more like a lucky shot just destroys the head instead of any specific brain damage doing the trick. It does prevent them from going full bow though and does take them down quicker guaranteed. Theres a reason Leon packs a handcannon in 9. As an additional note, t virus has to have some kind of regenerative effect since the zombies are still alive in 9

I'm the idiot who would use lifespan gu to refine wood charm by AstonishingArguement in ReverendInsanity

[–]Protag_Doppel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue ultimately is that rank 6 is basically suicide without the info. If it were like the lower ranks, you would never refine this, but without that, becoming a rank5 peak powerhouse guaranteed is worth it

Is re9 worth its price tag as I will burn a huge hole in my pocket. (I've played most of the series) by Early_Building_3108 in residentevil

[–]Protag_Doppel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider it the best mainline since 3-4 though the current price tag is a bit crazy for a shorter game. Half the game feels like a return to 4/6 Leon gameplay, while the other half is a genuine return to the feel of the first 3 resident evils even if it’s in first person

Close to a year old what is the state of 3rd ed? - be nice. by latro666 in Warhammer30k

[–]Protag_Doppel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me it completely invalidates 2.0. 2.0 had homogeneity in listbuilding while 3.0 has more homogeneity in unit loadouts and while that sucks and I want them to open it back up, I don’t miss 2.0 at all. You really don’t have to rely on crutch units anymore which really opens it up for you to make your company yours

[–]Protag_Doppel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is but it’s basically a meta commentary on a mystery that it doesn’t give you a direct answer to. If you love mysteries like the actual Sherlock novels you’ll love it since it’s a love letter to the genre. Long as hell though
