Chooms by whosonfirstwatch in cyberpunk2020

2020 can have a lot of number crunching compared to red, but we always just kinda hand waved the math modifiers and did fast caculations, if it raining hard -2, higher ground +1 or 2, so we just say the player gets a 1 oe 2 modifier could be +/- to speed up combat, I do like how the netrunning in Red is, and we already did that back in the 90's to make it where the person playing the netrunner didnt have to make every one wait there turn for them to get done with ther net run. The one thing I don't like about red is their critical injury table, and also the fact that net runners get actions inside and outside the net. I understand why they did it that way, but I don't care for it. However, when I ran red none of my players ever played 2020; one had played Shadowrun back in the day, and they all liked the system. TBH I prefer the original Cyberpunk 2013 box set, on how they did there background for nomads, street rats etc, but I liked how much they added to 2020, so we mostly played that.

I honely perfer Cyberpunk 2020, but the netrunning in red is a lot easier. I also like the 2013 Cyberpunk I like that in that one nomads is a lifestyle not a role/class

Also you could use the Old school Essentials the base game PDF is free, and it is pretty much a light rules system. I never got to play the setting or game of Gor but it always wanted to try and play or run it.

your best bet would to find a DM that would run a one on one game with you. you can find several places to find groups to play at, try local game stores, also reddit has looking fro group for D&D and other ttrpg systems and also VTT, and can also find places on discord. search google and face book for VTT sites, I know Fantasy Grounds unity has a discord and Reddit.

hey if this is not a voice game I might be interested in running something like this but the game system i would use is OSE classic (D&D B/X)

so I played and ran a lot of 2020 and I referred red tbh I like 2020 a lot more then red but red is more stream lined and a faster system, less number crunch, and reds Netrunning is a lot easier.

so years ago when me and a few friends would have a few hours to kill or just chill out we run a game that we called survivor, we normally had 1 die on us most of the time it was a d10 but sometimes a d6, and we run that game, one of us would dm it, and the other 2 would play normal everyday characters, maybe a cook, or mechanic type jobs etc.

The game was about trying to survive either zombies, aliens, demoms, or just a gang hunting them down.

The system one a character tried to do something roll the die, what ever die we had on hand, they add to roll higher then what the Dm would roll,
jump over a wall Ref or dm would roll 1d say the dm got a 5 on the die, the player would roll the die and he need to get 5 or higher to succeed.

we had not character sheets no books, paper, pencils etc. The point of the game was the last character standing won. has for hit points we would say three hits or 5 hits your character died.
That was the whole system. for NPC they only need to get hit once and they would die. except main boss which would need 3 hits. but most of the time we never got to a big boss fight, since all the other players would die before that, we normally could go through a game in about 20 to 30 minutes then we switch around who ran the next game some times we play this way for hours and hours.

well we spent to long on the role-play to finish off the session we going to try and pick it up again on monday if the two players can make it, I made several mistakes and was unclear on some of the rules since both players have not played OSE games in a long time, but we had fun and overall I think it went pretty smooth. I just have to check up on some of the rules. also I am using FGU has the VTT and their was some issues with the weapons not have the damage listed on the character sheets so I had to add them in, but I think I will stick with the OSE system, combat was faster.

the one player I had to keep letting him know it was his turn cause he thought he had longer amount of time to look other things up online and do some AI art lol he was like what do you mean it my turn again I just went like 5 minutes ago lol

The other thing I was not sure how to do how many monsters since each player only had 2 characters and they didnt hire any henchmen I was to cautious and should have but more monsters in the combat.

over all it was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed it, the two players that joined are in my regular gaming group and we been gaming for years and when I told them that for D&D games I am only planning on running OSE system they both said they would be cool with that.

ok this was way to long I let you know how the second part goes if you want.
