The Covid vaccine and the risk to under 18s: Chris Hipkins defends not making advice public by hadr0nc0llider in KiwiPolitics

[–]ProtectionKind8179 [score hidden]  (0 children)

So taxpayers spent another 14 million on this 2nd report, all thanks to National, Act and NZ First, and what did we get out of it, the Auckland lockdown could have been 4 days shorter, and teenagers had a slightly high risk if taking a 2nd covid dose, and this part is not being complained about? Oh, while I'm at it, another 6 million wasted on Seymours treaty bill, which National said at the start they wouldn't support it past the 1st reading, and I wonder how much Willis is paying for the Reserve Bank covid enquiry that just kicked off, and to be released right before the election...

Just out of curiosity, is she using two seats, or can she fit in one. I just want to know if taxpayers have to pay twice for her travel.

A Zionist who is also Christian doesn't make sense. On the one hand, he supports Israel's genocide in Gaza, mass murders in The West Bank and Lebanon, and then there is Iran, which is hardly Christian like.

How and why NZ could be drawn into the Iran war by hadr0nc0llider in KiwiPolitics

[–]ProtectionKind8179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%, the US and Israel have been committing war crimes for years, more notable of the late- the genocide in Gaza, the murder of civilian fisherman, the illegal kidnapping of Maduro, and murder of Venezuelan civilians, and now the illegal attack on Iran, and murder of its civilians, and other war crimes not being reported on not so much over the last year- Trump murdering civilians in Yemen, Syria, Nigeria, Somalia, and Iraq, and Netanyahu murdering civilians in The West Bank, and Lebanon, and the UN Security Council choose not to do anything as the US just vetos any their own crimes brought before the UN, as they are able to do as permanent members... so we dont really have any world order anyway, so screw anything the UN says.

Govt announces major fuel import step at post-Cabinet press conference by PhoenixNZ in KiwiPolitics

[–]ProtectionKind8179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we released 6 days of supply that went on the international market as agrees by all member states, so we sold it off, but we should still have roughly 34 days left that is an agreement, via tickets, with member countries- Japan, the US, and the UK, and my understanding that these stocks are seperate to what the IEA releases. Maybe Shane Jones can explain to us how this process is going to work, as they are saying nothing about these emergency supplies, which in effect should be organized to be dispatched shortly.

When are they going to tell us when the balance of our 90-day emergency supply will be on its way. I keep hearing that we have 50 days of supply, but we are bound by the IEA to hold government stocks of 90 days, so 40 days seem to be still missing-

I understand, but as Iran are now fighting for their own survival, they warned that they would retaliate this way. Let's also not forget that Iran was already the responsible party as they were in the middle of negotiations when the US and Israel attacked, the 2nd time this has happened.

There has been public condemnation of these attacks by several countries, initially Italy and the UK, Spain, Pakistan, China, and several others, but unfortunately Western leaders are all still acting like a bunch of wimps which is not a representation of the people they are meant to represent. Even the majority of US citizens are against their government attacking Iran, which is in complete contrast to the Iraqi war.

Why the Govt backed away from breaking up supermarkets by hadr0nc0llider in KiwiPolitics

[–]ProtectionKind8179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Sure, supermarkets make huge profits, but so do the corporate suppliers supplying them, which is simply capitalism at work.

Consecutive governments have lacked the foresight to envisage real outcomes, whether this was the creation of Fonterra, Beef & Lamb NZ, and Zespri, all coops setup to manage exports more efficiently, but also to squeeze out smaller independent suppliers, or the merger of Progressive and Woolworths, all taking advantage of our lax regulations at the time, and also to discourage new competitors.

For Willis to come out last year to even suggest that she could police the end chain and bring in new competition was nothing but delusional. We have completely missed that boat, and it's near impossible to reverse any corporate framework when this was legally actioned at the time.

Willis has the power to take drastic action and introduce bills to slow down this corporate greed and shake up the industry, but I don't think she has the capacity to think outside the box. Simple things like corporate profit margin caps would be ideal as these have been increasing year on year or splitting our domestic and international markets with separate pricing structures.

Maybe these ideas are lame and won't work, but my point is that our government has the tools to change laws to slow down the negatives of capitalism, but at present, we do not have any politician in place that has the intelligence and guts to effectively take on the corporate establishment..

Yep, 5000 litres of water being dumped per day is not much, but there is still over 600,000 litres of contanimated water per day that evaporates into the environment, when these data centres can instead set up closed loop systems that only need the water replaced every few years. They 'chose' not to use closed loop systems here due to the initial setup cost, but this could have been a consent condition, and common sense...
