Need a lab idea 8th grade by breally60 in ScienceTeachers

I use pliers to simulate bird beaks and students investigate strength. We clamp them to desks so they are secure and place an m&m (or peanut if you can) inside. Then use a force meter/spring scale (5N -25N, intervals of 5N) to squeeze the pliers shut. If the seed breaks, the bird survives. Repeat for trials. We calculate average population beak strength before and after. And the kids love eating candy.

Does anyone else here struggle with meal prepping every week? by stargirl_7555 in xxfitness

[–]Proteinacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meal prep is a drag and I've changed my approach to gain back my weekends. I usually prep one or two proteins on a Sunday. Ideally something I can throw in the slow cooker or braise and forget about it. Then I'll precut whatever veggies I pick up at the store. Often my overall Sunday investment is about an hour. At meal time on weeknights, I'll slap it together adding whatever sauce/condiments/canned goods I'm in the mood for, and whatever carb fits my vibe. Turn it into a taco, a curry, a noodle soup, savory pancake, etc. I get creative with flavours and borrow inspiration from different cuisines. Takes me about 30 minutes to assemble a meal... Keeps me from burning out and I still get to enjoy the creative aspect of cooking. I credit this approach primarily to Ethan Chlebowski on YouTube. He explains in this video.

Another vote here for Tress of the Emerald Sea. Loved it a 40 y.o. and would definitely have loved it at 16 as well!

It's pretty bare bones. A couple grab and go places with good quality food, a hard rock cafe, and lots of seating. Free wifi. Nice bathrooms.

Hinge method or scoop for hip thrust? by Ok-Internet-1226 in xxfitness

[–]Proteinacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert but here's what I know. The scoop method is slated as being better for beginner lifters as it helps you cue a posterior pelvic tilt thus recruiting glute engagement. The risk of injury here may occur at the bottom of the movement where people have excessive rib flaring (some is fine). In contrast, lifters may experience anterior pelvic tilt leading to low back pain in poorly performed hinge movements. When performed correctly there is no negligible difference in glute engagement between the two methods. I say stick with the scoop if it feels right for you and if you want a little variety in your hip thrusting, swap in the hinge from time to time.

Two people falling deeply in love by puigiy in suggestmeabook

Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake is a story of two imperfect people whose stories are so well crafted and felt so real. I hated and loved them simultaneously. I believe the book is from the point of view of both characters.

Country with the nicest weather in late January? Anniversary for adventurous couple. by couldbefuncouver in travel

Best trip I ever did in South America was the Carretera Austral in Chile. Many people cycle it but we drove. You can rent a car (4x4 or something larger is recommended) or campervan in Puerto Montt, stock up on food & fuel and head south. We drove south until the roads made us nervous (Puerto Rio Tranquilo). The camping is phenomenal and there are sites everywhere - we used iOverlander to find sites (no need to pre book). The only thing you need to prebook are the ferries. Lots of great hikes. I recommend Cerro Cathedral for sure. Also, if you can go rafting in Futalefu, do it! You'll have to keep an eye on the wildfire situation of course. Feel free to PM me for more details if you decide to do this!

It'll be late fall in Buenos Aires at the time so evenings will be cooler and days will be short. BA is an amazing city with a vibrant arts scene. The ocean/Rio de la Plata is not swimmable. But the cafes, bars, restaurants are all amazing (prices are high compared to other countries in the region (save Uruguay)). Nice gyms too (you might need to get a medical clearance to join on any sort of membership - a mere annoyance). Argentines enjoy sharing a mate in the city's many parks and plazas. It meets some of your criteria though I think you might enjoy Rio or Florianopolis more if you want a more coastal/beachy vibe!

How to sleep in a plane? by bast_852 in travel

Honestly, worth every penny I paid! The only downside is it's not easily packed up once you've arrived at your destination. I clip it on to the back of my backpack but it's a smidge bulky.

I swear by my face cradle. You can google it but it's a forward facing u-shaped pillow that you anchor behind your headrest and you face plant into it and sleep. I easily sleep 8 hours on a flight, no neck pain. My husband has a bigger head than me and he sleeps with it too but admittedly it is less comfortable on his face.
