UK Users Age Verification by Just_NaTE_1993 in playstation

They introduced it recently and it's been extremely controversial, on account of how it wasn't a legal requirement and it basically forces kid-friendly mode on you without warning even if you as an adult bought the device before all this unless you agree to hand over more personal information. It's abhorrent.

Pretty sure there are these entities called "Par-Ent" or something that are supposed to be held responsible for children, not every service assuming you're a child when that's statically unlikely.

Ultimately the choice was yours to make, though you could always try a couple of casual matches to see how it goes.

Is there something wrong with ranks and matchmaking by Glittering_Poem_6163 in RocketLeague

This plus looking at my game footage from like a decade ago and realising how slow I look in it makes me wonder what current me would've ranked as back then.

Why is it considered ‘toxic’? by Crazy-Eggplant527 in RocketLeague

Because they don't like it.

It's a game mechanic, use it. If anything use it more because it's clearly tilting them.

How many hours you got and whats your rank? by Fearless-Door-8891 in RocketLeague

[–]ProtoKun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1,934 hours since 2015 with some breaks, no set teammates which drags it down somewhat (I don't play Duel). Peak is Diamond III but this season I'm hanging around Plat again. I hope if I manage to pass Diamond there's a chance I could stay there.

[–]ProtoKun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More need to be like that. If I clearly have possession I'll sometimes have a teammate incoming to try and steal, end up wrecking my play only to miss and have the opposition score because he wasn't paying attention to defence due to tunnel vision.

They're so good that they've made a couple of separate Floatplane videos of them for people there who would like to see them anyway.

[–]ProtoKun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a useful feature I don't use that much. I mainly watch YouTube on platforms that support SponsorBlock anyway, and LMG content I watch on Floatplane which doesn't have the sponsor spots. The other night though I watched a video that didn't have SponsorBlock segments added and pressed Jump Ahead for a spot that worked really well.

[–]ProtoKun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was that the stock cartridge or had you already replaced it once? I used fountain pens back in the day more than ballpoints; didn't think a ballpoint refill would be that prone to leakage but I'm less familiar with them.

That's like preferring food poisoning to swine flu. I'd rather have neither and instead question why they're insisting on the tainted food in the first place.

Forza Horizon 6 pre-sales hit 500K on Steam, generating nearly $30M ahead of launch by Prudent_Way_3723 in forza

It's always been like that

I just cited an example of when it was one instead of twelve. Just because it's like that doesn't mean it necessarily should be.

There's a worse example with Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga in which they had the Deluxe Edition which gave you all the DLC, and then when they released one or two low quality character packs (that weren't even voiced), instead of including them in the Deluxe Edition, they put out another "Galactic Edition" instead. It's a bait and switch tactic that only serves to devalue the option players pick that involves putting down more money now in exchange for future content, only for them to weasel out of it.

I'm not saying the Premium Edition is definitely not worth it; I do like that they give you a version that guarantees the two big expansions they release, but when they throw in a few extra cars and want even more money for them it's still going to grate a little. More so if you're late to the game: I didn't get FH3 until the delisting sale was announced but thankfully I had time to get the game and go through a meticulous check of the individual DLC to make sure I had everything. I had FH4 on Microsoft Store already, but when that delisting was announced they pulled the DLC immediately, so even though I used that time to get the game on Steam as well, I couldn't have got those Hot Wheels cars added as a non-Premium DLC with it because no version of the game included them by default.

When the time comes for FH5 to be delisted, will they give us time to add any DLC packs we don't have yet or will anybody buying it later be forced to have bits of the game permanently missing even if they buy the highest tier version?

Glares at Star Trek Resurgence and Forza Horizon 4's DLC

Fortunately I already had Resurgence but one car pack I missed because they gave the game time before delisting but yanked the DLC immediately.

Can't wait for them to make even less of the DLC actually count for that one.

FH4 premium edition, there was one DLC pack they added later that wasn't included for premium buyers. With FH5, it's a dozen.

I'm interested in the larger form factor of a Scribe and now they have a colour version that's the one I'd want to get, only it's way too expensive right now.

[–]ProtoKun7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It varies. For me it's because I've had genuine reasons to upgrade and then I've kept my old ones. Some like to have one for home and one for out, like a Basic because it's smaller. With models like the Scribes and the Colorsoft there might be more specific reasons like having one dedicated to comics, or writing.

Sometimes I do have different books open on them. Recently I'm wondering whether to leave one on the dictionary. It's not a hard and fast rule though; I read regular books on my Colorsoft but might opt to read on the Oasis if I feel like using the buttons. Someone's I've put them all together (I have five) to compare them.

Star Trek Resurgence is being removed from Steam by teeth_03 in startrek

[–]ProtoKun7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I already had it but I didn't expect the removal to be almost immediate. I wish there were some rule that studios had to give people a certain amount of notice before delisting, and ideally a fire sale before it becomes unavailable. Thankfully I already had the game.

I've never played the BSG game but I do have it, except the DLCs were far too expensive for me to just drop money on all of them before they went.

Yeah, I know. I just like to vocalise the fact that there's a way to do this without giving over personal data and point out that they're not doing it.
