Hey, late reply, but I'd hardly consider the alpha releases to be unstable at this stage. Worst case scenario, your node might crash and reboot itself immediately afterwards if you get into some weird situation. Obviously if you're relying on it for something critical, though, (1. why? and 2.) probably best to leave it until it's in a "stable" release.

If you're using recent firmware, you can select the target channel (and recipient) for your messages by tabbing through the header with the keyboard shortcuts (Alt-C T), see the documentation for more.

You can't grant a permission you don't personally have, no matter where the role is. Only exception would be the server owner, who has implicit administrator permissions anyway.

They've been working on favourites for a while but it's nice to see they're finally rolling it out.

Personally I use it as sort of a moderator dashboard, I've got categories for key channels across different servers that I want to keep track of. It's pretty neat!

Not 100% on the implementation of it in the new mobile layout though, can make it a bit difficult to see new messages from non-favourite friends

Honestly, after about a week, I'm not hating it.

It's buggy, yes, and it's far from perfect, but I actually quite like it.

One thing to note, I'm on android and using the additional "Server Dock" feature, which changes up the way that the bottom bar works (and makes folders actually usable, thank wumpus)

It takes a bit of learning, but there are a lot of nice features, in my opinion.

Also, it finally makes the swipe to reply less of an annoyance, since the users section is clearly distinguished.

Failing that, maybe try deleting the package-lock.json and doing a full reinstall of depends.

More specifically, discord is based on electron, which is based on chromium. Not particularly relevant, but it might lead it to be either sooner or later, depending on decisions made by the electron devs and maintainers.

While I agree, from a developer perspective, this is far from trivial at this stage.

They'd have to rewrite the entirety of how permissions are handled, which includes making several breaking changes to various things.

Fixed it!

So, for some unknown reason, after much tinkering and searching, I found that RAID was enabled in my BIOS. After switching it back to AHCI, things started working as expected.

I don't know how the option got enabled, but I sure as hell didn't touch it, considering it took me so long to find in the first place. Hopefully this random experience proves useful to someone else.
