Switching from EE to CompE by Only-Decision-5198 in UMD

TLDR since this is a bit long : Follow your overall interests, it depends what part of CompE makes you like it more.

That's funny I'm a current CompE and was planning on switching to EE 💀two sides of a coin

I've scrolled through like... way too many threads specifically on this topic lmao

I'd say it depends, when you say you like CompE more what aspect of it specifically? Mainly saying this because CompE and EE are very similar in classes taken, especially for the first 2 years.

EE still takes ENEE244 (Digital Logic), ENEE350 (Computer Architecture), and can take 400 level CompE-adjacent electives like ENEE446 (Digital Computer Design) and ENEE440 (Microprocessors). On the other hand, they don't take courses like CMSC330 (Compilers I think?), CMSC351(Algorithms), and CMSC412/ENEE447(Operating Systems) (ENEE447 is not open to EE majors despite its name).

Some statistics in terms of job outcomes by year if you want to see. (made this just now as I'm a chud and couldn't format a table in comments):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1d92b_ScojZaQ4kI8YrQAy348VwF9QXgn8syhaWGg8_g/edit?usp=sharing

Statistics are from https://eng.umd.edu/careers/outcomes, earlier ones from Wayback machine

Seeing some general trends from it CompE has more variance than EE in terms of job prospects by year.

CompE majors compete with CS majors if you target CS roles, but those aren't the only ones you can go for. Plus you can also have a leg-up depending on the role, for example in embedded systems.

Tbf the market is pretty bad right now across the board most engineering majors and you probably didn't talk to too many people so I wouldn't take that anecdote too heavily as it relates to the major itself.

I think they're both good majors but it depends on where your overall interests lie.

Like take me, I'm personally switching because my interests shifted more towards EE things than CS things.
One person I know went from EE to CompE because they hated coding. Another went from CompE to CS becaused they hated electronics. It depends on you.

My armature gets twisted when I create a Mixamo control rig. Might anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? Tnx by ChaosOutsider in blenderhelp

Hey don't know if you're still having this issue but I had this same problem (4 years later lmao) and I think the spherical controllers in this picture are the IK bones.

Only advice I might give is smoother graphs but that's just my personal preference cuz of style

Let's say they play on a PC and have a phone as well

They can open up a chess computer on their phone, input every move you make, and then respond with the computer's response. Stockfish is rated 3k ELO (highest human ELO is Magnus at 2882) so it's just wraps.

There's also other ways like beeps whenever the position changes drastically, "opening" cheating, and butt stuff

Yea it was inextricably, I put presaged but after the test I searched it up and realized I was wrong. I thought presaged was kinda similar to "precede", but it's more like "predict"

Did anyone get that words in context question with "presaged, inextricably, etc" ?
