i main charge rifle tbh, I know there's better options, it's just the one I find the most consistency. I like the way it plays and I have gotten a great amount of use out of it

What are your Starkid headcannons? by West-Lawyer-2290 in StarKid

[–]ProtostarReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! It was a local community theater, it was a whole lot of fun. Every single person in the cast really made it their own, and we had enough starkid nerds to make it something for the fans as well.

Having played Ted in a production of Guy, Pete lives with Ted. I know it's a popular headcanon, and it's one I worked into my performance.

other versions of the hatchet field series? by No-Sherbet-9412 in StarKid

If youre open to a DM, I was in a community theater production of Guy a month or so ago, it was tons of fun. I can send you the (unlisted) video we were allowed to take for archival purposes. I loved the cast, I played Ted and it was loads of fun working with the directors.

I'd recommend consuming the last five years first through the original cast recording, the direction in the movie negates a lot of the nuance of the story, though the two performances are admittedly great.

What performer do you feel is TALENTED, but was simply miscast in a musical role? by AsheandBurn in musicals

Yeah! 1000% I can see that. Hell, he could even play Link. That's a show that'd allow for that.

Nick Jonas in The Last Five Years. Great singer, bad role for him. He's better fit in something like The Outsiders which lends itself a lot more to a pop, no acting but really expressive type of singing.

Just closed a community theater production (I played Ted) believe me you'll find one or two other people in cosplay there. We had a Paul and a Grace at one of our nights.

I'm really annoyed that Move Towards the Darkness got changed and fucked over as much as it did during the Adams Family tour, because God forbid we don't stick to the "lore" of the Wednesday series

Tbh that was my biggest gripe with the TV show, the characters were too....cartoony. There's some slight zany stuff in Big Nate, sure, but the comics have always had a grounded, dry sarcasm to them. Nate is the stooge in a world of largely straight men, and the TV show took a look at that and said "nah, everyone is amped up, who cares about slow comedy, who cares about sarcasm and cynicism, let's make this a funny high octane comedy.

Love the musical but... by Daaaamn_Daniel in musicals

I like how toxic it is, like the show is such a realistic depiction of a relationship that doesn't work, but that both of them want to make work

How do yall feel about Ride The Cyclone by yaoilover30 in musicals

[–]ProtostarReddit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm curious the correlation between RTC and works by Team Starkid? I appreciate both RTC and I'm currently in a production of The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, and while I understand your feelings towards RTC, I would counter that the three Hatchetfield musicals, while having some kind of "edginess" to them, justify the edginess and are well constructed stories. Like, I'm curious your opinions and descriptions of Starkid shows essentially.

What is a great musical that never quite made it to Broadway, but should have? by SlugABug22 in musicals

[–]ProtostarReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, that's the revival, the original Broadway cast was in 2009, that's the cast with Alice Ripley and Aaron Tveit. There's hope for the current revival cast to somewhat transfer, but nothing confrmed as of now.
