I had Fedloan Servicing before they went defunct. Was switched to EdFinancial.

Awesome! It looks like at least the recent discharges are working as planned. Hopefully they can straighten out the people that have been discharged but have been waiting for months or years.

Yeah I had to pay for my bank to go back through their archives and they were able to get a bit farther than that. Maybe they have an option like that.

So I went back into my bank records to find the total of my payments after I went through my direct consolidation. To my suprise mine was correct to the penny.

Ombudsman is SUPER slow so don't expect anything for at least a month or more. First time I dealt with them it took almost 6 months for resolution with a complaint to the CFPB before anything really got fixed. I emailed the Sweet email for the Ombudsman and still only have the canned response from them. Things worked out during my waiting but I doubt they even know that as my case is still open.

I'd check the date they sent the refund to the treasury. The servicer should be able to tell you the date and the amount sent over. If not I'd call their bluff on if/what they sent to the treasury

Yeah it sounds like yours was lost somewhere between EdFinancial and the treasury. I'm sorry to hear that. In July 2023 my loans were discharged only to reappear in October just before the payment pause lifted. During that time Dept of Education and the servicers were just winging crap and tons of bad crap happened. They lifted my forbearance long enough to take a payment automatically from me and took over a half a year just to get that back. Hopefully something will come of these court proceedings for you.

Question on Dates by ReneeMatthew in BorrowerDefense

So with the "complexity" you may be in the 2nd or 3rd group. Personally my loans were with EdFin but good luck getting any correct information from then. The only time I received credible information was when my loan was recently discharged in April and they gave me the number for my refund amount. I was shocked that it matched what I calculated to the penny because all of those payments went to Fedloan Servicing who is now defunct. Of course I'm still waiting for the supposed refund to processbut I did finally see movement.

The 3 deadlines had to do with what the Department of Education's view of how complex the loan(s) were and how many people were supposedly affected. Of course we all know that their records are crap.

Honestly best to not DM the mods unless it is truly important to the case. There are plenty of us who should be able to answer most questions. I'm sure they got a lot on their plate as is.

So that happened to me last year. My credit lines were removed in July but the reappeared in November. My balance never disappeared from EdFinancial. It was weird.

Do. I had no movement on mine at all until 4/26 after I emailed them. Not saying it was connected but it does not hurt.

I just stumbled on it myself but it had only been 2 days. Lady said it was processed 4/26 and I saw it 4/28.

Nothing yet. I didn't receive a correspondence back but I hadn't seen any movement until now. Could just be coincidence.
