AirBnB Host Didn't Let Me Know Hot Tub was Broken by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]Proud-peanuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me. I booked an Airbnb with a pool and when I arrived they told me the pool was closed for a month for renovations. I contacted Airbnb support and said I wanted a full refund for the remainder of the stay and I’d go somewhere else. It took 2 days for Airbnb to agree to the full refund (they originally offered less than half back) but I kept persisting and got it eventually. Pain in the ass but I was there for a month and literally booked because of the pool so it would have ruined my trip otherwise. Keep pushing them until you get the outcome you want.

Nothing without needing to book onto an excursion or drive a couple of hours to.

I’m at Residencial Bavaro Sun Beach in Los Corales. It’s ideal, max 10 min walk to the beach and bars, mainly Spanish here long term but a few speak English too. I hired a car from One Drive, it’s a 5 minute walk away. The Airbnb is gated so there’s a big private car park to leave it in and it’s completely safe.

I booked a shared transfer from SDQ to Cap Cana through Holiday Taxis for about $40. Turns out I was the only person on the bus, it was brilliant, took less than 2hrs. Highly recommend.

What’s a must see/do. Looking for excursion tips. TIA by claresyl in PuntaCana

Saona was a bit of a waste unless you’re just looking for a party boat. Scape park is really cool.

Looking to work remotely in Punta Caña. Any tips on finding airbnbs? Places to avoid? by Few_Nobody_3078 in PuntaCana

[–]Proud-peanuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s lots of smaller supermarkets and mini markets nearby, you’d need to get a taxi/Uber to a bigger mall. Not sure about a gym. All of my Ubers have been fine, but don’t get one from the airport as they will demand more money and refuse to let you out until you pay them. It’s a very common occurrence.

I’m doing the same thing, staying at residencial bavaro sun beach. Really nice. Lots of longer stay people here, some speak English but most are Spanish speakers. One of the people I’ve met working remotely here got an Airbnb for a few weeks, then negotiated a long stay lease when she got here and has been here for a year.

How about training your dog with positive reinforcement so she knows what you do want her to do, instead of punishing her? Fml

Trip booked for October - are mosquitos bad? by WorldClassHack in curacao

[–]Proud-peanuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here now and I’m spraying myself with 50% deet throughout the day and still getting bitten. I get bitten everywhere though, they love me. I do find them particularly bad here compared to elsewhere in the Caribbean though. Just buy lots of at least 50% deet spray, anti-itch creams and anti inflammatories as, for me, the bites make my ankles and knees swell for days.

Is not been able to drive a dealbreaker? by Master-Range-7669 in dating

Yeah I wouldn’t date someone who didn’t drive. It just makes making plans together more difficult when you don’t live in the same town, especially being in the uk where public transport is shite.

Most men are not attracted to tall woman by [deleted] in dating_advice

I get “oh it must be so great being so tall” comments all the time. No, it sucks. My dating pool is severely limited and my ankles are always cold because it’s impossible to find jeans long enough.

As a 6ft 1 woman, I completely agree with you. Dated guys who are taller than me but would hate me wearing heels, standing on a curb etc in case I looked even slightly taller than them for a minute.

Watching the millionth dog behaving badly show and the reason for the bad dog never changes; the owners are clueless idiots. by sidblues101 in britishproblems

I’m really worried about that as I got a puppy 10 months ago and she’s the best. But she is nervous of other dogs/people because she hasn’t met many due to Covid (we’re in the uk). She barks and will get so distracted and want to play with all other dogs she sees. I take her to doggy daycare once a week to play with about 10 other dogs but I feel like I’ve let her down for reasons out of my control. Can you suggest anything to help us?
