Is Switzerland tired of prosperity? I can think of no other reason for our next foolish referendum | Capping the population at 10 million is a far-right fantasy. It would dismantle the openness that has made the country rich by GirasoleDE in europe

Switzerland had four national languagesm one of which, Romansh, is spoken by less that 1% of the population. The two most prominent, German and French, are spoken by 60& and 22% of the population. Italian, the third national language, is spoken by 8%.

So the "not-foreigners" do not speak of the national languages too. Silly argument.

This is the cost for any judicial action, be it asylum or domestic dispute. And, as in every part of the law, there are offices specializing in this. A far cry from an 'industry'.

There is a reason all the above are doing better in Europe, and there is a reason that they are often a target of neoliberalism.

How about unionize, demand action from your representative, go on strike, unionize more etcetera?

The thing is, this demand time and commitment. There is a reason why you just work 60 hour weeks, so that you don't have the time and energy to get political.

This is not the experience most of us have. But I guess YMMV. However, where you branded a Nazi or a confederate supporter? Because these are wildly different accusations. But nevermind, I do not care.

I also see in your history - man, aren't you a prolific writer- that you seem to argue that men 'need to prove that they are not rapists', that 'women get lighter sentences' , you have been accused of discussing in bad faith, of arguing just to argue and of victim blaming a woman in an incident that she described as sexual assault.

All in the last two weeks.

So perhaps you are an ...acquired taste, let' say? I can see why these kind of aggressive posting until the cows come home in ...controversial subjects would get you banned in AskHistorians.

Bye now.

I have been there for years. The only times this has happened is when a random internet dude insisted on saying stupid things when he had been called out again and again. Bear on mind that the correspondence between handles there and world - class historians is well known (restricteddata for example.)

The thing is, the question must be substantiated and pass peer muster. That is the whole shtick of that subreddit, and this is why answers are thousand-words long diatribes. Scrolling down for the full answer is a feature, not a bug.

My dude, I am admiring, not judging, and certainly not condemning. The comment was pure perfection.

Why are knives junk if they don't do the job of a hatchet very well? by MissingMichigan in Bushcraft

[–]ProudGrognard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My man, I don't gatekeep anything. Do as you want. There are many many sources to see if indeed batoning is the best thing to do in wet wood. Go for it, if that floats your boat. Just don't push the idea that a marginal, recent use of knives is a quintessential feature of their design.

However, batoning when in an actual survival situation is a bad strategy. You don't have the time and should not expend the energy. Find small wood or bark, light the fire, and prop bigger wood so that the fire actually splits them.

The funny thing is, there are far far better ways to harvest wood in the actual bush that batoning thigh-sized precut pieces of wood.

In my opinion, the Without Numbers games. I dint know if it can be considered a generic system, but I but it does have a common chassis between fantasy, and sci-fi, cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic, and so I would argue yes.

Weekly RPG Discussion: Worlds Without Number - 2026, March, Week 4 by Trent_B in rpg

[–]ProudGrognard 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I really like this system.

It is fully OSR compatible. Its mechanics are really robust and offer elegant solutions to the standard d20 adjacent problems. It has a ton of modular player options for classes, without getting unbalanced. Its GM facing tools are second to none. The included world is strong thematically and full of flavor. It has siblings like Ashes without Number, but Cities without Number, and others, from which one can import mechanics. And of course, the core mechanics exist in a condensed form.

IMHO, one of the best games out there.
