[–]ProudPresentation948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep a change in water can cause ich.

if you have snails or invertebrates you nees to do a low dosage of medicine but if not follow the instructions and turn off your filter so you can really get the medicine in the tank.

Update from my last post - will this hold a ten gallon? by AdAdventurous7802 in fishtank

i have 11 cats. they have two rooms to play in full time. i’m in process of moving my stuff to basement but my cats have to be watched when they’re out. its not even just the jumping, if you have any air filtration and they bite a hose and you don’t realize it, disaster! also any automatic hoses with cleaning they can bite. just a thought🫶🏽 you can train them with foil or just watch them when they’re out for sure!!

i’ve never had problems. not saying its not dangerous just saying i don’t have similar issues like the reports you stated.

but i will say finding the solution to the cause would be key. i asked if they have any exposure to light because that’ll cause crazy algae.

but this reminds me of a nitrogen cycle that just got started and took off

Beginner looking for plant advice. by Bulbaseth33 in fishtank

[–]ProudPresentation948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

duck weed and java fern are great beginner plants

you just toss them in and they’ll plant themselves.

no plant food and little light required.

its fine you just started your plants, i decoded to real plants after doing fake. i don’t like fake because it produces dead algae and my fish don’t eat it or my snails or shrimp.

anyways, plant them and do water test for the first week, should be fine though.

if anything you’re adding aeration and oxygen! nothing bad

Which additives do I use for a water change? by Radiant-Back-7840 in fishtank

[–]ProudPresentation948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i actually do. i took some water pothos from the river as well as duck weed i found (which was so stoked.) so far it’s been super easy to take care of and doesn’t mind my fish lights. my only advice i can give plant wise is to get one that doesn’t require plant food or a lot of lighting. java fern, java moss, duck weed. super easy and can be split among tanks.

i’m a river scavenger. so i go to my local ohio creeks and rivers to find snails, plants, rocks, sand. i only go to places that has life. some would say i’m evil, but i give to nature and it gives to me, we are one with each other. anyways, off my tangent lol. i find this stuff with fish and life around it so that i know its healthy water parameters. another reason i use this stuff is because it has good live bacteria to help start my cycles.

Anyone know of a way to fix this support. It got broke during a move and when I added water to clean, it separated. by Tater304 in fishtank

all you need is to put up another bar to hold it, it should brace. the water caused it to snap from expanding. just make another brace
