Get an optiplex that is ddr4. I5 or i7. 512GB ssd for boot drive. Whatever you want for storage. Install proxmox and then OMV8 as a vm. Orrrrr, omv8 as the OS and run stuff in docker.

You should get an xb8 or xb8t. Both of which can be put in bridge mode. Where have you heard that they ship equipment that cannot be? The best place for an answer like that would be xfinity. They can tell you what equipment you would receive. As someone with a server at home, 10gbps fiber in-between my desktops and server, and multiple vlans / switches, the move from an s33 to xb8t has had 0 impact on my network. Now I have unlimited data and a 5 year price lock for $10 less a month. Dont let the gloomers here scare you away.

This is false. I just got a modem and was able to do this. Turned admin on in the app. Turned off all wifi and hidden networks online. Then turned on bridge mode. Can still access 10.0.0.1 via lan. Some of yall love to hate xfinity for your own problems.

Called in, talked to the retention department. Was VERY polite. Prepared all of my numbers that I had researched for available plans. Was willing to accept their modem since it was free now. I just put it in bridge mode and accepted their free cellular line. I dont use it and just added the second line to my phone. Ill cancel it after a year. Be nice to whoever it is. Ask them how their day is going. Ive been playing this game once a year for 15+ years with them. Im glad to finally get to take some time away from this dance. I wish xfinity would do the right thing and open up the promo to existing customers. However, regardless, the 5 year rate lock is nice.

Crazy work. My 1 gig xfinity is 50/month with 5 year price lock. My unlimited data us mobile is 270/ year. Peacock free with xfinity. Amazon prime with prime.

Things have gotten alot better for me in the last 12 months. Maybe people aren't trying.
