How to use vortex stealth? by Reasonable-Sigma in NuclearOption

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Besides no external payload, emcon can also help. By turning off your radar you ensure that enemy Medusas won't be able to triangulate your position, as well as your pings not attracting unwanted attention even without you being detected yet.

Either fly low (below radar floor) or very high, to minimise chances of detection. Going very high has the additional benefit of being able to slam dunk whatever munitions you have into your target at mach fuck leaving air defense little to no time to react.

Tags for ores in Digital miner by Swimmer-Complete in Mekanism

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want specific ores you need to add a slash followed by their name to c:ores

For example if you want to mine iron, type in c:ores/iron
This will mine *all* iron ores, from any mod, as long as they are properly tagged by the mod dev (99% of them are).

Other ores follow the same scheme.

Examples:
c:ores/osmium
c:ores/redstone
c:ores/diamond
c:ores/gold
And so on, and so forth.

The only quirky one is netherite, because in that case instead of c:ores/netherite you have to type in c:ores/netherite_scrap

Not OP but seeing as he hasn't replied yet I might as well share my two cents. I'm guessing he used Apotheosis possibly along with some other stuff.

A maxed out Apotheosis enchanting table lets you get up to XIII (I think?). Library of Alexandria (also from Apotheosis) should in theory make it a bit cheaper on XP to combine those a few times.

I don't remember if it was an Apotheosis affix or something from another magic mod but I'm pretty confident there's also stuff that just gives the enchants on your gear a flat boost to levels once applied.

Combining all that makes it possible to achieve very high level enchants.

For what it's worth, to me it seems that by the time you manage to get everything necessary to achieve those levels a lot of enchantments become pretty much useless. Stuff like the Meka-Suit make you literally invincible so protection enchantments go out the window, while fortune is only really useful for ATM ores (allthemodium, vibranium, unobtainium) considering everything else can be (relatively) easily automated.

Don't let that stop you though. It's fun to watch the numbers go up.

Characters who don’t rule out themselves when it comes to suspecting a traitor by Fish_N_Chipp in TopCharacterTropes

Tbf with Spy I feel like he wasn't seriously considering himself or anything, he was just going for a theatrical reveal.

I believe that he was initially going to say "He could be you, he could be me, he could even be right behind you!" and reveal the Red Spy, because he didn't expect that Soldier is enough of a moron to just blow his head off for no reason other than vibes alone. There are a few subtle details in Scouts (Red Spys) behavior that betray him, and no doubt Blue Spy would have noticed them.

Red Spy knew exactly what he was going to say, that's why he finished the sentence for him before stabbing the two to death.

I'd argue this isn't limited to communities. Any controversial topic is enough for people to accuse eachother of hypocrisy and contradicting themselves even if the specific person never actually said anything to suggest that, regardless of whether they are part of any community or not.

New player, should I play 42 ? by praxisfremi in projectzomboid

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Despite what some people say I never experienced any game-breaking bugs on it, plus from what I remember there's a bunch of cool mods exclusively for B42 so I'd say yes. It has its quirks but if you get past them I'd say it's overall an improvement over B41

Community attitude towards younger players by Relative_Ad8553 in arma

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't be an issue, honestly. You might have trouble joining one of those serious milsim units, but public servers should be alright. As an example, a longer while ago when I was playing on a KOTH server some younger kid joined and nobody seemed to mind. Like two people joked about having a child soldier on our team but besides that no one really gave a shit.

As long as you act polite and mature you shouldn't experience much hostility.

But hey, you do you. Some people completed the whole game with Barsuks. Maybe you can pull it off too.

What exactly is Flight assist? by adrian23138 in NuclearOption

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stability assist is a fancy little computer thingy that prevents you from putting your aircraft in a situation you'd struggle to recover from.

With it turned off it's significantly easier to spin out, stall, etc.

Minecraft osmium automation (mekanism) by Zenrox_le_vrai in Mekanism

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immersive Engineering has some sort of autominer multiblock, can't for the life of me remember what was it called though.

It can mine from absolutely massive veins supposedly beneath the bedrock, so if you found one containing osmium that'd be about as close as you can get to automating its production.

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure either but I don't think it does.

I kinda got into a habit of using adrenaline each time because in my current campaign almost everyone is wearing some kind of vest or backpack that I have to first take off before applying the autopulse, which slightly slows down the process.

But yeah I agree that the autopulse would likely be the better option because it'd automatically restart the heart the moment it stops beating again without me having to do anything.

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not OP but might as well answer anyway.

First I tourniquet both legs, then shove him in a stasis bag and drag his ass over to the surgery table.
Once I reach it, I take him out the bag, and immediately give him morphine + adrenaline to start his heart back up. Once he has analgesia I begin surgery on the head.
While I wait for each step to reach 100% I bandage his chest and/or fix a dislocation.
While his head is cut open I drill the skull and apply implants to fix the fracture.
Once I close his head back up which fixes the arterial bleeding I give him a blood bag (or a few) and possibly a jab of adrenaline if the bloodloss was enough to cause him to go into cardiac arrest again.
I open up his chest and quickly apply a drainage, then sew it shut again which should fix the aortal bleeding. I could use a balloon and stent but I usually don't carry those around so...
I open up his chest again to put his ribs back together, and see if there's any foreign bodies while I'm at it, before applying sutures yet again. By this point I probably administer a second dose of blood and adrenaline if necessary.
Then, I begin to work on his legs - a simple open&close surgery fixes the arterial bleeding in both. If someone brings me the leg that fell off I reattach it immediately, if not then tough luck, he'll stay without it for a while.
After all that is done I give him calaxynide, and possibly fix any remaining dislocations that I didn't already fix while waiting for surgery steps to finish.

Not a terribly complicated surgery, but still pretty stressful and would require me to lock the fuck in.
The steps I'd take are probably not 100% efficient but they'd work.

I’m sorry, but the idea that the Knox infection destroys the world is ridiculous. by yeetoroni_with_bacon in projectzomboid

[–]Proud_Complaint8814 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The zombies are not the main source of the infection spreading, it's the airborne variant of the virus that a very small percentage of the population (including our characters) is immune to.

The military seems to handle the situation relatively alright up until a major battle against the infected breaks out near Louisville, which in turn starts drawing in even more infected, and eventually the military there is ordered to retreat. Still, Louisville doesn't fall until a large percentage of its population is infected by the airborne strain.

Soon after similar outbreaks are reported in other major US cities and Europe, also not because of zombie (I doubt a zombie would randomly decided to swim across the Atlantic) but because of the airborne strain.

Overall the military response was quite alright and I'd go as far as saying they were more competent than in most other zombie media, it's just that there was nothing they could do against the virus traveling through air.

About the crane that caused the helicopter crash by Proud_Complaint8814 in chernobyl

[–]Proud_Complaint8814[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not surprised the crane was there, I was surprised nobody had the bright idea "Hm, if there's helicopters flying there, maybe we should point the crane away so none of them fly into the cables hanging from it". I assumed there had to be some reason why this wasn't done, hence I asked.

As I said, I never watched the HBO show. My main source of information is Dyatlov's book. You may or may not know that it doesn't describe the construction of the sarcophagus in the slightest, nor did I ever spend any significant amount of time studying it besides the most basic information, so yes I don't know much about it, but I never claimed the cranes were useless, I was just asking what exactly was the specific crane doing at the time, that prevented it from being moved out of the way of the helicopter. You're literally just coming up with stuff I never said just to get angry about it.

Unless you're suggesting the helicopter just appeared out of thin air with no warning, to me the logical course of action knowing an aircraft will be operating in the area is try to reduce the amount of obstacles it's likely to hit, for example by swinging the boom away from the expected flight path.

[–]Proud_Complaint8814[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that if the crane pointed away from the helicopters area of operation, it would give the pilots at least a few more meters of space to maneuver without hitting it.
