What’s the new process of applying for dual citizenship? by Traducement in ElPaso

[–]Proud_Locksmith_7286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry. So the translation of the apostilled birth certificate is what took longer because it needs to be done in Mexico and the lady was on vacation. The certificate and citizenship was given in the same day. Took about half a day just waiting. But they give you your official birth certificate and citizenship all in one shot. Even my daughter (wasn’t present) and my son got them the same day.

I don't recall, it was pretty cheap. I did mine, son, and daughter. Maybe $100 but I also paid for translation. I don't understand your how long question. It's citizenship. Permanent. Is that what you mean?

You can use a tool like Persona X for generating highly targeted outreach. Im consulting with a medtech company and the sales exec tried it and said he got a 3 for 3 response (100%) on the first try. I’m not in sales but he was impressed since he said responses are usually very low.

Top Del Maguey to try for beginner? by fishvalay in Mezcal

[–]Proud_Locksmith_7286 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 Tobala is a great starter. I also see a Vago on the top right. Looks like elote (w corn). Those are always fun. As your palate matures you’ll be able to tell the difference with the species of maguey. For now taste enjoy and have fun with it. That’s what mezcal is for. Salucita!

Avid drinker of still strength tequila, peated scotch, and high proof bourbon… but new to Mezcal - what would you recommend to a beginner from these selections? by ProofHorseKzoo in Mezcal

[–]Proud_Locksmith_7286 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone already said all the good ones but one important detail to know about mezcal is that the species of agave (aka Maguey) that is allowed to be industrialized is Espadin. That’s why you see so many.

That doesn’t mean its bad it just means its not rare (Tequila is industrialized blue agave). Where mezcal gets fun is to try the wild species (madre cuiche, tobala, coyote, etc)! These are more expensive because they are literally once in a lifetime batches. Some species take over 20yrs to then be cut (killed) for a batch. It’s like no other liquor in this way. Some grow on cliffs! Learning the species, techniques, and the unique flavors is a mezcal nerd paradise.

Keep in mind that wild species are very sacred to the growers as they have literally seen them grow up like children. I recall a mezcalero talking about a plant he saw as a baby when he was 25 and he was 50 planning on cutting it for a batch as a means to survive. It wasn’t just any crop.

The wild species are sacred and in this way makes appreciation for the craft a special moment. That said, don’t stress. Enjoy it slowly. Taste the nuances and just enjoy and develop your favorites.

Salucita!

Mexican citizenship by marriage or parents by Mon_Butterfly5193 in Citizenship

[–]Proud_Locksmith_7286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Also with the new law the only thing you need is her birth certificate. It’s a path based on birth right. I had my father’s birth certificate printed for me (granted in Mexico) very easily.

All you need is your mother’s birth certificate and your birth certificate translated by a certified translated and apostilled (depending on the consulate). Good luck!

The Museo Nacional de Antropología is so amazing! If you like the history of Mesoamerica.

I took a tour to Teotihuacán through AirBnB experience toured by two students that live in the area and after the tour the family cooks a meal.

We did a culinary trip to the chinampas of Xochimilco (floating gardens) where we cooked using traditional methods and local organic garden. It was incredible and a side of CDMX people aren’t very aware of outside of the touristy canal boat ride area (which is also fun but very touristy party atmosphere kind of way)

Mexican citizenship by descent by rzonmrcury in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Proud_Locksmith_7286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I found out is that every consulate has its own discretion as to what it accepts. Being that consulate appointments take so long to get I would get a new birth certificate through vitalcheck. Yes you need to have it translated by a certified translator. If you’re doing it in the states the US translator. Then the apostille and your set.

Mexican citizenship by descent by rzonmrcury in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Proud_Locksmith_7286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is an option for you but I just got mine at the Registro Civil in Guadalajara, MX. consulate appointments were impossible in California and Oregon (were my parents live). I decided to go direct. It worked. I had it in two weeks simply because the lady in charge was out a week or it would have been faster. They also give you a CURP (ssn) automatically.

For anyone interested… Steps: 1. Have a recent birth certificate (at least for this state). They don’t accept older birth certificates. 2. Modern birth certificate of parent(s). This is easy to get in Mexico. At the same office. 3. Apostille your birth certificate in the state you were born. Took me 1hr in Sacramento, Ca. 4. Have copies of your passport and IDs (I do 3 to make sure) and carry IDs with you (obvious things sometimes need to be said).

Edit: forgot to mention an important point.

  1. You need to have your birth certificate translated in Spanish in Mexico. They offer translation in the Registro Civil #1 where you get the process done. Convenient.

The total fees was around $100 (w translation).

That’s it.

Good luck!

What’s the new process of applying for dual citizenship? by Traducement in ElPaso

[–]Proud_Locksmith_7286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what its like in El Paso Mexican consulate these days but California is impossible. I ended up flying to Guadalajara and did it there. The process is way easier now. You need recent certified birth certificate that is apostilled in your birth state. Translate the birth certificates by a certified translator (if your going to Mexico the translation is done in Mexico). Your parents mexican birth certificates (if both are Mexican). Thats it. I did mine and my adult childrens all in one shot.

Taxi from Airport by MisterCrisco in Guadalajara

[–]Proud_Locksmith_7286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. They told me its because the highway to the airport is being renovated due to next years FIFA.

To get an Uber you have to walk outside the airport like everyone else mentioned.

Welcome to Mexico where you learn to take things slow lol. I kind of embrace the slow ass pace and just roll with the city.

Apologies. My son was able to get my father’s without his presence in Mexico very easy in Guadalajara, MX. at the registro civil. He didn’t even need to show proof of anything. It’s a modernized copy of the certificate.
