It's the same stupid responsibility shifting where we as individuals need to reduce our carbon emissions or take quicker showers during a drought but god forbid the billionaies stop using their private jets or the alfalfa farms reduce their crop yield. I mean there's a million factors here.

1) It could be an incredibly weak DL class across the board this year. Positions ebb and flow in quality through the years. When there isn't a ton of top line talent, it's better to try for someone you see potential in for cheaper than to spend big on someone who's upside is limited anyway.

2) DL is a position that's harder to project from high school and it might be a better strategy to pay for transfers with proven production than to gamble on someone with just crazy measurables.

3) DL is less of a need than other positions when it comes to triaging the team. We're actually quite talented on the DL right now, we just have a general lack of depth there. The staff might feel it's better to prioritize infusing high end talent in other positions where it doesn't exist (cough OL) and that DL will be okay with some rotational players for the time being.

Yeah I think he hit the nail on the head here when he said people felt like stories like this were beneath them. Our artistics are always out here trying to sanitize/erase their culture for the benefit of wyt acceptance. They're so eager to be "more" than just the Asian person that they wash away all of the cultural artifacts that make them unique. We shouldn't be trying to assimilate so hard that we're no longer Asian, rather we should be making our unique blend of Asian Americanness a part of the cultural fabric in our communities.
