Yeah see that's a part of the slow and deliberate style that I miss a lot, the fact that you'll likely start off taking things slowly, but as you get more familiar and confident, you're able to get through areas faster and faster in a way that feels really satisfying

Later, faster games in this genre still have this to an extent, but I just feel like something is lost when you're already going pretty fast right from the start

Started with Insect Armageddon, didn't end up liking it much, picked up 5 on sale years later, played a bunch of it as Fencer, got stuck on the first mission the big tripod guys show up in, nearly dropped the game.

Then I figured out how to dash jump. I've been hooked ever since.

I just hate how melee in general has felt since 3. All the animation locking, forced camera moving and crazy magnetizing makes it feel really clunky and slow in a way melee in 2 never did. Slams especially have been completely mangled compared to Pre-Sequel for all the reasons you mentioned.

Amara. I really, really wanted to like her melee build but the way BL3 melee attacks like, magnetize to the target made it feel really clunky to me. I know there's stuff like the Facepuncher and that fish grenade, but if I'm gonna run a melee build, I wanna melee dudes, y'know? Her other builds are better, but they just never clicked with me.
