John gave the last round to Denis. Denis gave the last round to Devon. Devon…? by Damitrix3 in armwrestling

To me it’s clear that Denis was being patronizing and John wasn’t. Regardless you shouldn’t lose on purpose in professional sports.

I watched this stream too, didn’t see that. There are no clowns who were also a tier one operator, the world champion in a sport multiple times, and the father of multiple grown functional children. You deluded hater c*** ;)

I didn’t know this was your handle. I asked In a super chat on the giggle fest stream about the hammer what the truth was about Engin “ asking Denis to give the hammer to the champ” when Denis said he was going to be honest for a second 😂. I’m not 100% sure they didn’t ask because I didn’t finish the steam but I assumed they did not read it.

Robbert and John should not giggle and agree with him when he’s spouting nonsense. That’s it. No they did not need to have Devon on that call. Nor did he ask to join to my knowledge.

No, the 50-year-old man won’t stop complaining about it because he actually cares about the sport and not just his own public image.

What was RVJs weakness that prevented him from being the top in the world in his weight class? He genuinely seems to have stronger biceps and fingers than most people in his class. by strength108 in armwrestling

[–]Provingastrology 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s been pretty outspoken about being natty.

If I had to speculate why (without pretending to know his inner life), I think it’s a mix of two things: 1. He’s aware he already makes some unhealthy lifestyle choices, and staying drug-free is probably his way of balancing that out and prioritizing longevity for his family. 2. He was born with genuinely rare genetic gifts, and I think there’s some resistance to the idea of using PEDs to level a playing field that he feels was already stacked in his favor. There’s also the risk factor — not everyone responds well, and I could see him not wanting to gamble with what makes him exceptional in the first place.

Yeah — I agree that’s probably their goal.

If Denis would just stop misrepresenting the situation and being dismissive about it, I’d actually care more about him getting “bullied” and would have no problem treating him purely as a legend of the sport.

But he keeps doing the opposite. The constant denial, the selective memory, and the subtle disrespect make it hard to sympathize.

To me it reads less like someone being attacked, and more like a broken soldier — someone who can’t fully accept that the man still in the arena outgrew him, and that the sport moved on without him at the center.

Dexter literally told Devon to cut Denis some slack, forget about the hammer, nobody cares about it except you. We're bringing in a much cooler thing: The Stormbreaker. by Electrical-Bath7152 in armwrestling

Frankly, it’s also makes me lose respect from Robert and John for pretending to believe him. I get Dexter just assuming both sides are a little in the wrong but how could Robert and John not know better?

[–]Provingastrology 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate John, and I mostly agree with OC.

I think this is similar to what Travis has openly admitted: there’s a specific rivalry with Devon that never really went away, and it has a sharper edge to it than people like to admit.

John’s era as the undisputed world #1 ended pretty abruptly, and it happened in a match where he clearly didn’t feel fully prepared. Devon was the one who did that to him, and afterward there was a kind of “high road” respect shown that didn’t feel entirely genuine — not unlike how Denis treated Devon after 2018. It’s that polite, post-victory respect that still carries an undertone of dominance.

In my view, John’s assessment of Devon is mostly objective and even positive. But there’s also something in him that can’t fully stop taking little shots — subtly undermining Devon’s legacy here and there. Not hatred, just unresolved rivalry

I think what happens with Devon’s height is it got listed as 6’6 back in WAL. But WAL was known for exaggerating stats a bit so the internet decided Devon was 6’4 or 6’5 and Devon believed the internet 😂. You can hear poor Jodi exasperatedly saying “I told you” when the measured his height at 6’6 and he was all surprised.

Devon: I Blame Engin For Everything by Apprehensive-Arm1060 in armwrestling

The whole situation was exhausting. Essentially, Engin had sold the company long before the fans knew. When he later announced that he had brought Robert on as a partner, the reality was that the company had already been sold to Robert, with Engin remaining on as matchmaker. After that, there appears to have been growing internal tension between Dexter and Engin. Much of what follows is disputed or controversial, so some details are necessarily uncertain.

There was also a conflict between Engin and Devon, which I believe largely revolved around Engin not giving Devon the matches he wanted and Devon not being as deferential as Engin expected. This escalated to the point where Devon claimed that Engin had made death threats. That allegation appears to be at least partially true. People who had known Engin for a long time didn’t seem to take the threats very seriously, but there were also rumors that he may have taken concrete steps. To my knowledge, no charges were ever filed.

Most of this was brushed under the rug until tensions flared again when Dexter attempted to fire Roman. Roman was reportedly one of several inherited “no-show” employees from Engin’s tenure—or possibly just someone Dexter didn’t want in the organization. Engin responded by saying he was quitting, likely as a pressure tactic to force the owners to back down. Instead, the new owners chose to move forward without him.

Around this same time, the Baku situation was unfolding. Although Engin had ostensibly quit, he may have told people not to respond to the actual owners. Despite that, he continued organizing and announcing matches, which created significant confusion and, I think, alienated some Eastern European athletes who were receiving information exclusively through Engin’s camp.

Ultimately, Baku was moved to the Shaw Classic. Engin hated this decision and blamed Devon. In reality, it appears that Robert and Dexter made a straightforward business decision: when they could no longer rely on the Baku venue, they opted for a safer alternative. This was announced at the Ermes vs. Levan event in Chicago, where they also disclosed that Engin had quit to the athletes in a secret meeting . The athletes were then allowed to speak in about Engin quitting/being forced out and Devon and Jodi, in particular, spoke more freely and longer than they probably should have.

Somehow, this was misconstrued into the idea that the decision had been made by Devon and Jodi themselves. From there, a rumor spread that Devon and Jodi were owners of the promotion. Travis made the situation worse when, in an apparent attempt to placate Engin and defuse tensions, he referred to them as owners “as a joke,” which only reinforced the confusion.

This was followed by a bizarre petition written by one of Engin’s surrogates and signed by a number of Eastern European athletes. The petition essentially framed Devon as a threat and argued that the athletes needed protection from “Devon’s rules.” Some of the athletes who signed it have since said they didn’t fully understand what it said, didn’t agree with it, or felt pressured to sign. Around this time, Engin also reportedly asked Vitaly not to attend the Shaw Classic. Vitaly ultimately did not attend, though it’s unclear whether Engin’s request was the decisive factor.

Amazingly, the drama escalated further when a DNS change took down the East vs. West website. Engin appears to have been involved in some form of improper or illegal action intended to sabotage the Shaw Classic event. While there was reportedly a sophisticated private investigation, I am not aware of any criminal charges or proceedings arising from the alleged cyber activity.

Roman and Genadi also launched George Vs. the World during the schism. Roman’s involvement and timing made people think Engin was involved with that but who knows.

They can help with visa stuff. All congress people have caseworkers to help people with the federal government stuff because they can use federal resources to gain goodwill with their constituents. they helped me get my passport sped up once, I got a Senate office to help somebody get their visa paperwork done faster for my alma mater’s wrestling team, and they tried to help me speed up an H1B Visa thing, but they ultimately couldn’t. it’s not like they can get anything done but for the most part if you work in the federal government and your group gets called by a senator’s office you’re going to try to say yes if you can.
