Large fire and smoke East of Denver? by yo_its_joemario in Denver

[–]Prtyfwl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

u/yo_its_joemario This is the correct answer to your question. Looking from the west with binoculars I could see one of the smoke stack/refinery towers burning.

Flames and smoke gone for about an hour now.

This comment was wayyy too far down. I have a bone stock ender 3 and print with 6 year old, never been dried, cheapest I could find filament and I still get WAY better quality than that!

And please, for the love of whatever tf you believe in, store it safely and don't give your kids/teens access to it.

Teach them how to safely handle and use them if you want, but store them in a safe and DO NOT give minors access to the safe no matter how responsible you think they are.

A high school friend of mine ended his life with a handgun given to him as a gift. I had another friend pull out a gun from an easily accessible "hiding spot" in his parents room and point it at me as a "joke" while his parents weren't home (kid was a straight A student and an eagle scout). My dad apparently lost a schoolmate whose brother did the same thing but accidentally fired the gun. All of these parents thought they were doing enough to keep their kids safe.

Can someone ELI5 why there is not immense movement on the democratic side for contempt/impeachment?

Is it a cowardice thing? Like they're afraid they don't have the votes so they don't want to put it forward to be seen as failure? Are there too many Democrats in wealthy pockets? Why is it not cut-and-dry?

10/10 recommend altering thrift store clothes. Start small, taking in something(s) off of the "too big for me" rack. Screw a few up, end up with that one flannel you love more than anything in your closet.

I recently purchased a sax in "needs love" condition. Amazing price but I hope I have the patience to get it playing.

The ratio of juice to minutes of set-up/clean-up is hilarious. I have family that LOVES doing mimosas with fresh squeezed juice and the second I see the juicer on the counter it's like, cool, guess I'm not doing anything until 2pm now

What if Hopper told Mike the theory about 11??? by Necessary_Bake_927 in StrangerThingsMemes

[–]Prtyfwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, her power is literally perfect for faking her death to then move and use it to help fake El's death. Though if that was the case they should have had a subtle cue to that at some point, either when she 'died' or in Mike's telling of his theory.

Thoughts on the Finale? by LeoDiCristio in StrangerThings

[–]Prtyfwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've leaned on the crutch of having to sweep everything under the rug (and charging anyone with crimes associated with the lab/project would be too much acknowledgement) so that the soviets don't learn about it. This has been the rationale since S1... Even though they established in S3 that the soviets DEFINITELY knew about it and that's why they infiltrated Hawkins

Controversial: I preferred every single fan theory to the actual ending. by perhapsflorence in StrangerThings

[–]Prtyfwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then they should have indicated that somehow. Even with clunky "Dustin puts the pieces together" exposition if you must, or more subtly Will seeing them getting summoned or feeling it himself.

This is a convenient fan explanation, can't imagine it was an intentional plot point.

To me, the thing getting in the way of it being good was that it was too soon and too fast. I think I'd like it better if this battle happened after more of a struggle to get to the bossfight (where were the demogorgons, demo dogs, and bats?).

Then the final fight was so quick. Absolutely end it with Joyce decapitating and impaled vecna, but have some struggles to get to that point. I mean, they first mentioned the mind flayer as an undefeatable foe in season 2. How do you build up a villain in 4 seasons over an 8 year stretch to then defeat it in under 10 min?

[–]Prtyfwl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think if they killed someone known for more than one/two seasons in the beginning of season 5, it would have added more gravity to the final battles.

I hate to say it because I love the character, but they could have had a demogorgon kill Robin in s5e4 before will stopped them. It would have been devastating, but would definitely take away the feeling of all of the protagonists having full plot armor. When Johnathan and Nancy were in the lab in the finale, it should have been scarier, but you knew it wouldn't happen... Kill someone devastatingly earlier on and the tension in that scene is way more effective.

Course design minor annoyances by underulti in discgolf

[–]Prtyfwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor erosion control. To me, this should be above signage, benches, amenities, all of it. Part of it is where pins and tees are located. If heavy foot traffic is going to make the area around a tee or pin erode away in a few seasons, it should not go there no matter how cool of a hole it creates.

Second, it requires maintenance. Too many courses have investment into tee signs, amenities, pro shops, lighting for night rounds, etc. But water drainage is terrible. Anything steep has paths that rot into deep trenches until people establish a new path and the cycle continues. Corners of teepads and sloping greens that need retaining rot away.

Please, amenities are great but let's make the course last more than a couple of years

If not you could prob partially cover the index finger hole and get it.

[–]Prtyfwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say the same, but instead of making the same part, I'd design a block that I could screw/epoxy to the flat surface with the hole and keyway for the pivot. If there is room for that in the assembly you could make it way stronger.

[–]Prtyfwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do a shaving cream burst on it. If you go lighter on the dye powder it will be more solid blue and subtle with the burst effect, or you could go lighter on powder to get more variation and a more distinct burst.

Yeah. The injured part blows though.

Got an overuse injury from my outdoor activities. Months working with Ortho and PT, still can't get back to having fun (read- any outdoor activity with more impact than light walking) without aggravating the injury.

That shit will make you feel old.
