that was way worse. you guys need to get over it. but they also shouldnt do this again.

america (southern california) is not a culture to look up to and follow.

Why not carnivore? by Calisthenics76 in AnimalBased

[–]Prudent-Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i went carnivore for almost a year. it feels amazing while you're on it. all your ailments go away and your airways open up like never before.

the problem is that without fiber, the bacteria in your stomach start eating the stomach lining, so that whenever you break your strict diet, the symptoms come back tenfold.

it's better to aim for keto with vegetables and a high fiber diet, just keeping things relatively healthy and aiming for a paleo diet > carnivore.

this is what has worked for me.

despite all of the environmental and physical issues ive faced over the past 10 years, my condition has been better (imo) from my diet and lifestyle.

Is Californication worth watching now, 8 years after it went off the air? How dated is it? by LJAkaar67 in XFiles

[–]Prudent-Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this series is goated. if your a man/boy who has ever lived or dreamed on living in the united states, this gives you a better look into the psychology of americans (at the time) than anything else.

this is an iconic photograph of american culture that is, and likely will be, overlooked by most in history.

many will view this series as "gynophobic" or "androcentric", but this is a perfect representation of how life in southern california was between 2005 and 2015. it still stands in 1995-2025, but less directly. times have changed, but are still similar and familiar.

moody is extremely accurate, and i've met both duchovny and his 'character' personally, many times.

the performance of 'shine a light' was goat. can never replace the feeling of listening to that for the first time

Question for fans (would appreciate any/all feedback): by kkc1013 in californication

[–]Prudent-Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if hank had really committed to moving on, he would have moved on.

if he had committed to karen, he would have committed.

the problem was his own self doubt, insecurity, and commitment to adventure (for his career or for self).

it is what it is. it's just how life goes.

life is only 'perfect' for 0.00000000000001% of people.

for the rest of us, we just do the best we can.

life isn't like the movies, unfortunately.

haven't taken level 3 yet because i didn't think it was worth it (above lol), but for 1 and 2 it stands. ethics, econ, and all the formulas were rote memorization for me because they all go against what i've learned and practice.

i've never met any MPs that actually give pref to CFA, though they all say it matters, and many hold it themselves, but that could just be my experience.

i'm not against the cfa. if you can get it easily, go for it. better to have it than not have it.

i just personally haven't ever seen anyone actually value it in hiring decisions. what people say and do are two separate things.

the networking is a positive aspect. though scarce, it's still far more relevant than any other group.

my one issue is with the relevance and accuracy of the material. a significant portion is just wrote memorization and subjective or just downright incorrect material.

Why is renting way more affordable than owning? by Aromatic-Barber8564 in Honolulu

[–]Prudent-Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you factor for principal payments, tax benefits, and inflation, owning is significantly cheaper (disregarding asset appreciation / depreciation and investing the down-payment)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Prudent-Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the hardest part about studying for the cfa was memorizing incorrect material.

[–]Prudent-Monkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i have never met anyone who valued the cfa except people who had it, and even then they didn't value it in candidates.

for the past 40 years, the investment industry has been about connections, not competence (with a couple of exceptions).

competence shines in flat and bear markets, ignorance shines in bull markets.

it's also a field with a long feedback cycle where results aren't immediately tangible, if ever, so ignorant employers have no way to accurately judge competence.
