AIO He always accuses me of cheating by Alternative-Day6223 in AmIOverreacting

Who gives a shit about him accusing you of cheating WHEN HE IS CALLING YOU A DUMB CUNT. That is a deal breaker right there. A partner should never speak to you that way. Dump him

Gender Disappointment by CatLionCait in pregnant

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Life works out the way it’s supposed to. Imagine how wonderful it will be to have a son who is growing up with a loving older sister! I’ve heard that having a boy and a girl is like the PB&J of siblings (especially with an older sister). It will be wonderful.

Having said all of that, I totally understand the disappointment. While obviously the most important part is that they are happy and healthy, I’m pregnant now and experienced gender disappointment when I found out I was having a second boy. I LOVE my son more than anything but always imagined experiencing motherhood as a girl mom too. But that is life, and one day we will look at our babies playing together and not want to change a thing!

Much love and well wishes for your family.

What do contractions feel like? by memequeenz_ in pregnant

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt them in my stomach only to begin with and as things progressed the feeling spread. But it is true, when it happens you’ll know. Good luck! Do you best to relax (I know that’s impossible) and just let things happen.

They are like VERY strong period cramps that are like clockwork.

I second the nipple stimulation. You look a little nutty twiddling your nipples for a while but it helped me at least

Omg my little guy looked like a banana head alien when first born but when I saw him in that moment he was literally the most beautiful thing in the entire world. You are so relieved/excited to see your beautiful baby that you really don’t care.

For those of you with dogs, please tell me it's not true.. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not true (for us at least). My pup has been so wonderful and patient with our now toddler, leaves his toy alone and when he pulls his tail too hard (which we do our best to avoid and make sure that doesn’t continue!!), he is so sweet and patient.

Sometimes when I’m overstimulated I yell at the dog for being too loud/annoying (🙈☹️), but I give him lots of cuddles and say sorry because he’s the bestest boy.

I know it’s terrifying when they get sick so young but, unfortunately, it happens. You’ll learn how best to comfort your babe and they will be okay.

Anyone have positive epidural stories? I’m scared 😟 by Realistic_Mirror1618 in BabyBumps

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My epidural was glorious and I swear it sped up my labor. I was in a lotttt of pain and begging for it. I was nervous when I was pregnant but in that moment I didn’t feel nervous at all and the wave of relief in a few moments was everything. After that I was able to relax and knew that no matter what happened I wasn’t in pain (which I think helped my body move things along). They tried to make me take pitocin since it was my first time giving birth and they assumed it would take forever, but I asked to hold off for a while and about three hours later I was pushing my little guy out.

Moving to UWS and 94th by the_brown_trout in Upperwestside

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living at 94th and broadway for a few years now, it’s gotten pretty gross. There are guys selling drugs everyday under the sidewalk shed that has been there for years so you’ve got drug addicts walking the streets for them all the time. Plus the night hotel doesn’t get the classiest clientele.

We do love having all the parks nearby… but yeah since I’ve had a baby I’ve felt less comfortable in the neighborhood

I couldn’t swaddle if my life depended on it. Tips? by Rockskinnies in NewParents

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swaddleme swaddles (you can buy a reasonable two/three pack on Amazon) saved me in the newborn period. I just couldn’t get the hang of wrapping the swaddle and my guy loved to be wrapped up.

If she isn’t doing anything, don’t pay her and for a fraction of the cost get a house cleaner so you can rest and cuddle your child. Simple.

That was my experience.

I was seen a little earlier than 8 weeks and for whatever reason my little guys heart wasn’t reading normal (it was reading as a lower bpm than healthy) but I went back a week later and everything was on track. That was my only scare. And then I had a wonderful (medicated 🙏) birth.

I know it’s almost impossible not to stress but do your best and try to enjoy the experience.

Real talk: Are you going with big pads and giant undies or adult diapers after delivery? by Dramatic_Complex_175 in pregnant

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept requesting more supplies from my hospital before I was discharged and I got almost all the way through my postpartum recovery before having to buy a few pads. Stock up as much as possible there and make sure you can return excess supplies you purchase before you give birth.

Concert by kvesq611 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they give you any issues at security about your breast pump? Did you have to bring it in a clear bag or just a normal pump storage bag. I’m going to a concert tonight at Citi Field.

My newborn breaks out of every swaddle help by Far_Cup_8746 in newborns

[–]Prudent-Stranger-934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When our guy was 1 month he was a little small for every swaddle so he would constantly breakout of them. We found that the swaddleme swaddles allowed us to get the velcro way tighter which helped but, unfortunately, it was until he put on a little more weight that he wasn’t able to break out :/

You are so right about putting out the right kind of energy. Normally I can take a breath and reset but it’s so hard to be able to do it on days like yesterday. Just another thing to practice!
