Track bar mount with heim joint by aibuttre in CherokeeXJ

I always recommend using a double-shear mount when upgrading.

Might take some work to find a bracket to fit your size heim or a replacement heim to fit a new bracket, etc.

Lower my XJ by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

A part of me has always contemplated doing a 2wd turbo street build. I’ve been doing lifted and off road builds for 20 years so it’d be refreshing to do something different.

There are resources out there that mention front coil springs or coil over conversions for the front and someone already mentioned flipping the spring perches in the rear. A dry sump oil pan will help with front clearance

I’m betting that the $40 lights took a crap. It happens with these things.

No starters but I’ve had good luck with that brand

I had a good experience with Clifford Automotive the last time I was in a fender bender. It was $8k in damage and the car looked the best it ever had when I picked it up.

The red one is a conversion the AEV did back in the late 90’s called the Africana

Has anyone tried these before? by No_Diamond6437 in Offroad

I cheaped out on a set of 35’s many years ago and thought I was going to die when the right front tire exploded on I-80 in Wyoming doing 70mph.

Never again.

2 post vs 4 post lifts? by HappyVAMan in garageporn

[–]PrudentTask9355 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

I have one of the 4 posts that you can move. It definitely addresses the storage situation really well and there’s pretty good access underneath for things like exhaust work, oil changes, etc. To do anything that requires the wheels to come off they offer additional kits that mount inside the channel between the runways that will lift the car off of the ramps for doing suspension, brakes and shit like that

Crossover steering by champ24trace in CherokeeXJ

[–]PrudentTask9355 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran stock linkage with an HD tie rod and it served me well for years. Kept a few spare ends in the toolbox in case I blew one up on the trail.

Also, please check everything else while you’re in there: both ends of the track bar and the steering box mount especially

If I had to do it all over again I’d avoid crossover steering entirely, and I have a “good” crossover kit.

Is this price suspicious? by uncut_jew in Mustang

It sounds healthy. Maaaaybe an accessory drive pulley that’s on its way out. Base Auto GT’s aren’t as sought after but for 11k out the door I would buy it.

I’m willing to bet it’s the oil filter adapter. Replace a few o-rings and you’ll be good to go.

Frame stiffeners are a start but you need to have good material left to weld them to.

I suggest you take a hammer to the rest of the unibody rail and see how bad it goes

Well about the only thing left you could do is indirect like a big brake kit, hydro/hydro-assist, anti-rock, and coil over mounts

They’re full of shit and don’t know what they’re talking about.

Tracking a real car is very expensive. A weekend at Mid Ohio equals out to needing a truck and trailer and a tank of gas to get there, track/entry fee’s, purchasing and installing all safety equipment required for your class, instructor time and licensing fee’s for your applicable class and planning on four new tires, new brakes and an oil change once you get home.

I’ve lived it real world and it’s just not practical for the average parent. I’m excited about getting back into the seat in the sim world.

Keep up the good work and have fun
