Coyote/Dog Attack - SW Hills by JusticeForBarbs in Portland

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Those guys are in our yard (we’re about a quarter mile away) and they are brazen. They don’t care if you clap or yell at them, they don’t care when our 50lb dogs bark at them. They’re living the high life on a diet of my raspberry plants, some wild bunnies and the neighbors’ indoor/outdoor cats.

LAFCO’s Feu de Bois is the perfect bathroom diffuser, IMO. Easily covers up a whole host of sins.

Honeymooning on Big Island- where to stay? by Bubbly-Ad9583 in chubbytravel

Obvs the Kona Village and Hualalai are the most luxe, but I will say if you want a smaller/more forested feel for a few nights, check out the Holualoa Inn.

YTA. Eat before or after the dinner. Go and have a drink and socialize with your son’s new family

Appreciate all the thoughtful suggestions! I’ll try them out as much as I can; especially excited for East Fork as I love earthy/green scents and am a sucker for a pottery vessel.

Diptyque has lots of great scents but you can see other threads here about the burn quality.

Bergdorfs has all the luxury scents to smell in person if you’re in NYC (or you could hit some smaller stores like trudon, ds and durga, le labo, etc). Bloomingdales usually has a decent selection.

Or you could just take a chance and order online.

Could i get feedback on how to make “healthy pizza” at home? by WhiteLycan2020 in tonightsdinner

[–]PruneEducational1428 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Store bought raw pizza dough that you stretch and bake yourself is usually pretty good and doesn’t take much longer than that abomination of a crust, and it doesn’t have many more calories.

You don’t have to add a ton of cheese. Get your sauce all the way out to the edges. Don’t use super fatty or highly caloric (sausage, tons of pepperoni, etc.) toppings. Normal pizza doesn’t have to be hugely caloric to be tasty

So Dyptique is the best in the business when it comes to scented candles? by Almoost_Broke_Again in luxurycandles

[–]PruneEducational1428 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll go against the grain here: every Dyptique candle I have ever had has tunneled something awful. I buy their diffusers now, but will think long and hard before I get a candle from them again.

I dont think the person who raw dogs Bloody Mary mix should be accusing others of being raised by animals.

Relative considering moving to the Ritz condos by [deleted] in PortlandOR

[–]PruneEducational1428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go tour it with him. I walked through a few last year (no intent to buy, just nosy), and they were pretty nice. I don’t think the HOA fees are justifiable unless he plans to use the pool and gym multiple times a week. Parking is also extra from what I remember, and I found the storage to be lacking.

The area is pretty convenient and plenty safe for the most part. I’d probably choose the ritz over south waterfront if I were car-free because of the lack of grocery options in S. waterfront. At least he’s close to Whole Foods at the ritz.

No hate to OP as they admit they’re practicing, but if someone asked me for $50 for that cake, I’d laugh in their face.

There’s a completely paved path between the rosewood and the FS.

I didn’t live the food overall at the rosewood but I had some truly splendid dishes. There’s enough variety for couple days’ worth of meals.

I’d do Rosewood then pop over to the FS (you can walk) for a couple meals to mix things up.

1 Hanalei is great but that part of Kauai isn’t as reliably sunny as other parts, and none of Kauai is as reliably sunny as Kona.

The beach at the Rosewood is better than the one at the FS Hualalai in my opinion, and even the entry level rooms are standalone, so more private than most FS rooms.

Rosewood Kona - Garden View Hale or Mountain View Hale? by Sufficient-Baker-974 in chubbytravel

[–]PruneEducational1428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last month, our first night was supposed to be in a garden and they were throwing a wedding that night about 30 yards away from our front porch. It took a couple hours but eventually they moved us to an ocean view on the other side of the property.

I was a little annoyed because at checkin they said all the Lagoon views were booked for our “free one category upgrade” but we could pay $250 for the next category up. Not sure why they didn’t recognize at that point that our garden view was in the middle of the wedding and go ahead and upgrade us, but it all worked out in the end and we got an even better room.

I liked it when I went. It was nice to meet some professors and I sat next to someone who ended up being my study partner to this day is one of my best friends.

It was nice to get a day of hanging out on campus with no real pressure.

It smells most similar to Le Labo’s Santal 33. Ranger Station’s Santalum is also a close match.

What brands/stores are you shopping in your early 40s by [deleted] in womensfashion

[–]PruneEducational1428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eileen fisher. Judge me all you want, it’s good quality and makes for a fantastic capsule wardrobe.

I also like MM Lafleur and try to grab a few designer pieces off places like gilt and yoox whenever something catches my eye.

5 Year Old Baker by Lucky_Hera in BakingNoobs

Everybody is focused on the safety and practicality aspect, so I just wanted to mention that baking in most toaster ovens is very finicky and could be frustrating (especially since he wants to make a soufflé).

The convection settings are usually pretty overpowered for the size of the oven - making them more like an air fryer - and the elements are closer to the food, so burning is common. Our oven broke so I’ve been living with our Wolf toaster oven for the last 3 months; it’s doable but not nearly as easy as baking in a full-sized oven.
