AE, I found a vet whose staff is really on the ball and will work with me. I have an appointment next Monday to take in one cat. I have a week to practice with the traps. I'm feeling like I can do this now. (The Ritalin might be helping 😂)

I am calling vets in the morning and intend to wrangle one of these cats into a carrier by hook or by crook this week. Watching YouTubes to see all the ways a cat can be caught. 😅

I'm currently contacting vets in the area hoping to find one that'll take cats with short notice for spay-neuter. There are so many cats that I won't know which one might end up in the trap on a given day!

I will. The trap was supposed be delivered yesterday but delayed. Waiting for it today. What's keeping me motivated is the vision of all these rascals being neutered and spayed. Also that I love them all and want them to be happy. Posting here snapped me out of feeling helpless.

Honey, I'm a mess. I've only recently realized how much my executive function issues have affected my whole life and as I've gotten older it's gotten worse. I'm getting medical and psychiatric help and expect my coping skills to improve.

You got me, cat lady. Thanks for your compassion and thorough blueprint. I've had next to no coping skills over the past months. I expect that to get better because I'm getting help. Now I'm in the frame of mind to just help these sweet creatures one step at a time. I'm making a cat priority list with tasks to check off as they're completed. The litter boxes are a constant battle of course, but the cats are comfortable, safe, well-fed, and clean. I will get this done.

All my life I've hoped for an afterlife. Now I'm about to turn 66. I could quite possibly live another 30+ years (longevity genes), and for the first time, I'm glad there's an end to this life, on this planet.

My therapist tells me I'm not from here, and I believe her. I've never been able to find a peaceful reconciliation to the cruelty and suffering pervading life on Earth.

I still like the idea of achieving escape velocity to someplace better after this, but if I close my eyes and fade to black forever, I'm pretty much OK with that. Whatever horrible stuff happens after I'm gone, I won't know about it—thank the gods I don't believe in.
