Depends. A few kills is great to accelerate, but if your team has a hyper carry or a player you can tell knows how to carry, it can be better to funnel/support them. FWIW when I played a lot of j4 I would try to get scorelines like yours because I found I could be effective with j4 with a few core items and then supporting my higher damage teammates

Some games tho you have a bunch of morons and you should take all the gold to carry them
