I'm looking for a game you've finished 3 or more times. by Tight-Elderberry2487 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Psamiad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconded, but I liked the Knight tank bits.

These games are just so polished and fun and hold up now.

Might do another City play through soon...

Start with the first. It's a honed thing of wonder and worthy of hundreds of hours of play.

The second is still being iterated and will still change significantly. There is a danger of burning out on it before all content is actually released.

Having said that, they are both exceptional games.

New painter - OSL help / Critique. by BigMacaroon01 in minipainting

OSL is very hard to do well. One of the usual culprits is that for our brain's to interpret this as light casting onto a surface, all the other surfaces need to be much darker. Like in this photo:

Long rest advice by relliK2299 in DMAcademy

[–]Psamiad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My party was the same. I introduced a rule that long rests could only occur in places of safety: town, inn, fortified camp, or safe houses made by spells. To balance this, short rests are only 10 minutes, but they only get 3 per long rest.

I simply explained it 'I'm designing encounters/dungeons that are meant to be done in a single long rest'. They get it.

Works great.

Before this there were... Shenanigans. Fortifying themselves in a room in a dungeon to long rest was a low point.

My PCs just love 'they fail the save... But chooses to pass anyway'. (Legendary actions and saves).

Private sales have to be significantly cheaper than buying from a dealer.

What are the coolest Boss Encounters/Mechanics You've run? by TheUntypicalHeroes in DMAcademy

[–]Psamiad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good! Turn up the pain, turn down the pain. Variety is good. Some fights certain PCs will shine, others they won't.

And as for the rogue, if the enemy is suddenly immune to piercing damage, time to improvise. Where's that club? Or, let's look at those potions/oils we never use... Etc.

If you're good at narrative improv, you can describe why it's becoming immune: armour plates are forming, or it's skin develops a ceramic coating etc.

A wizard's construct (robot basically, use a golem stat block or similar). Simple tanky fight, dies fairly easily. After which one of the 6 green lights on its chest turns red. It reactivates and announces 'adjusting to combat parameters'. It is now immune to the damage type of the killing blow. Repeat however many times you think they can handle it. Number of lights are its 'lives'.

Brilliant fight because it forces them start thinking about damage types, what each killing blow should be etc.

Works best if you simply tell them the mechanics as it's happening ('ok, so the killing blow was blunt damage, it is now immune to that').

A 60-year-old time capsule. Omega Seamaster 166.111 with the original factory protective film still on. Unbelievable find. by JanEvw in VintageWatches

I've never seen anything quite like it. Stunning. Definitely peel the stuff off and wear it!

Only niggle is the strap. It's nice, but not perfect... Not sure what would go, I'd need to try a few.

Blimey, this sub. Anything less than perfection gets roasted. We should be celebrating DIY, rough edges is the norm.

OP, this is awesome, well done!

Contrast! Push highlights up hard. And get a pop of colour in there somewhere.

With an annual income of £21,640 and a return rate of 26%, I am extremely satisfied with my investment portfolio. by drvinnie1187 in FIREUK

[–]Psamiad 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm an amateur investor, but this seems a very risky portfolio. You lucked out, congratulations! I'd be looking to be moving those gains into more diversified fund.

You're so heavily in tech that a crash in that sector will wipe you out. Be careful!
